That seems like a great guide, good work.

Info for others as well, the wiki page is almost up-to-date too. All required tech levels are updated and most origin tech levels are updated. There is also other new info about doing R&D so check it out.

The machine prototype is now in so at least there's another way of getting engineering up. All the high levels have stats getting logged on how much people are getting those. I'll first see those and then lower the power requirement if needed.

Many people seem to be very lost with those required tech levels. They aren't updated to wiki yet so code is the only place to see them. I'm slowly updating the wiki with the new levels but it's just slow since there are so many items spread around the files. Mining gear is as easy or easier to get ...

Engineering is a bit broken at the moment since there are no good items for that on the station. I'm taking those "my guide doesn't work anymore!", "I have to do things now!" and "I have to leave the room and talk to others!" complaints as positive feedback, that's how it should be. Having people make new guides to get the levels up is a good thing, no problems in that. I'll be updating wiki as I'm making changes. Let's compare the machines in tcomms and in other departments, for example medbay which has quite many machines. It would be better to compare a sub-department of medbay, like genetics, since tcomms is only a part of engineering.

Tcomms has 24 machines and 3 consoles.

I've never even tried to fix telecomms (other than rebuilding the main hub) since it looks so complicated with so many different machines. Just rebuilding them doesn't even put the comms back, you have to do some button pressing on the consoles too.

Aside from making telecomms maybe a bit simpler ...

I'll post the current efficiency changes here too for possible feedback.

Protolathe old efficiency 1 -> 0.75 -> 0.5 -> 0.375
Protolathe new efficiency 1 -> 0.8 -> 0.6 -> 0.4
I'll be raising the cost of several items later to bring them to better balance with this. Mainly guns and some very cheap ...

Most of the high level toys like implants and guns aren't usable to golems anyway so they're not missing out on much even without the really high levels. In that sense this might be a buff to golems if I manage to reduce the time to get the basic levels up. And I'll make sure that mining tools can ...

Cloning used to get upgraded a lot more in the past but the R&D nerfs have made it quite rare from what I've seen since R&D isn't done as much.

About defibs, I think they're just fine now since they can still save someone who has just died. With old defibs it was so easy to bring back dead people ...

Golems before they got R&D were fun because they had good progression and teamowrk. Starting with primitive tools and working to get better ones while building a base with others without any fear of suddenly getting killed by a changeling or getting recruited into gang or revolution.

I'd prefer to have the machine as an upgrade item which can be attached to a surgery table, like an automated machine arm. If it was a machine only science would build it and use it themselves. As an upgrade part MDs could get the part from R&D and attach it to their surgery table as well.
