TBH the only way I'd find lavaland interesting is if the station was on the lavaland z level. It would never happen for obvious reasons. But it would give security something to if Goliath's or legions occasionally breached the station.

I'd rather not see the assistant role get cut but they definitely should be clumsy or have some flat debuff that makes them fail at any task due to incompetence or lack of training. If that's not possible then removing them might sadly be the best option.

Unironically, xenobotany, with plants that need specific atmospheric/temperature conditions and/or unique substances for growth. Can be used to produce novel substances or genes that can be spliced into more robust, terrestial plants for regular botany to mass produce.

Problem with botany is of the chems that are useful to them for plant growing, they can't produce or ghetto chem them without having mutagen first. L4Z and EZ are too slow and harmful as they are helpful and blumpkins require mutagen to produce.

Engieborg tools are better than normal tools, but worse than power and alien tools. Mediborg surgical tools are 1:1 with standard surgery tools.

I'm indifferent mainly, the only thing that I'd like is the two tools in one that power tools have going for them as an upgrade but it's not 'too' useful ...

Can't you still make vampires by having dwarves drink the blood of a vampire (aka getting a vampire to bleed out in a pool of water then restricting all your good dwarves to drinking only that water till they are all vampires and using your migrants as chattel to keep your vamp fortress fed.)
