Security Pod Pilots

Hey guys, I visited the Paradise Station wiki page and took a look at their security job roles. Among these was the Security Pod Pilot role. I believe that this job (or something like it) would be beneficial for tg/station.
Not only would it be fun to play, but this role would make sense in a syndicate round. With this role, officers could patrol the outside of the station and protect it against spess carp, syndicate agents, and traitors. They can also report on hull breaches and possibly do basic repairs. This role would also eliminate the use of basic officers always bugging the Warden for EVA suits.
I'll leave the link to paradise station's wiki page with the role I've described.

We don't have pods on this server.
The closest you'll get to this role is giving a Sec Officer a round start Hardsuit and changing his job title.
Unless we get pods, or some kind of small space ships, on this server then a dedicated Sec Pod Pilot is useless.

What about modifying the pods that are around the arrivals shuttle?

Those escape pods are shuttles.
You can't pilot shuttles, those are essentially floor tiles that teleport to a different area to give the illusion of movement.
We have no system of piloting space craft on our code base, you would have to start from the ground up.

Eh pods wouldn't be that hard to code
Why you would want it is another matter.

Pods don't seem especially useful considering the majority of the action takes place in the station as opposed to space. I could imagine them being useful for space exploration but the question is whether we really want to encourage people constantly fucking off to space to get loot or not

I like Paradise Station. They got a kick out of my Legless Larry the begging space hobo and Doofus the retarded QM characters.

you can use a hardsuit if you wanna fuck off to space just give a sec officer a hardsuit and a recharging laser gun and call it a day

also remies pod code is in the game as space vehicles.
It's not fleshed out much, but it's there

actually not true, space vehicles is something anturk did, it's not my NT podcode.

Let's just merge all coders into one entity to end the confusion.
Also, exploration here is mostly lavaland-based, so pods wouldn't see that much use.

No? There are ~28 space ruins and only 25 lavaland ruins.
That's twenty eight counting only 1 derelict and 1 asteroid (there are 5+ of each)
Of course, there are some disabled on both sides, prisoner ship for example is. And deep space storage was flat out removed iirc.

The security pods wouldn't be used for exploration but rather for patrolling the outside of the station.
I also don't see why people would be against this idea because it adds more flexibility to security.

Well for one lots of people do not think security needs any buffs, this has been a massive point of contention

1) There's little you can do in the small space area around stations in a pod that you can't do in a EVA suit with a jetpack.
2) Spess exploration would be way more interesting in a podship than just farting around the station with the same pod.
