I played there once, got fat, made an IED, and got banned for throwing it after the shuttle docked at centcomm

It's alright I guess

do they have some sort of persistent rp continuity thing going on or something where everything at the end is still IC?

Most high-RP servers, including Bay, don't allow you to break character at any point, whether the round has ended or not.

Holy shit they have fat and forced RP

Now all I have to do is come up with a fat persona that will be inoffensive enough to roll there

I believe they also use Bay-med, which is far too robust for the common spaceman.

I like it. I haven't played their in a year or so, so my take on it may be outdated. They have a wider range of alternate species with unique quirks and racial languages. They also have more unique antagonists like Vampire (shadowling-esque powers, blood drinking for power) and Vox Raiders (Greytiders, from spaaace! Wait...)

As I recall there was also an interesting lock-on mechanic for someone with a gun. The idea was that you could train your taser/E-bow on someone and after a delay it would lock on, auto-firing and auto-hitting if they made a certain action. (Either moving, or shooting back. So you could gamble and counter it) As I understand it was so security and traitors wouldn't always have to shoot-first ask questions never. So you can explain why your covered in blood to sec or monologue to your target.

They suffer from cliques, but otherwise I remember the community not being so terrible. The art style is also slightly different and it always irks me for some reason.

That said, I've been on TG almost exclusively in recent memory.

played one round on paradise
got antag vampire as a detective or something
walked up to an officer in front of the whole of security and murdered him, took him into a cell in plain sight and drained him dry
not a single person did anything to stop me
then I got banned because I said "wow" in sawrge's unban thread
the reason was "guilt by association"

it's not a very good server at all

If we take anything from paradise, I want baymed. Make doctors into an actual technical trained profession as opposed to the derps who OD you on sleeper meds.

It's okay in that the admins are sparse/braindead and you can get away with stuff.

I tried the inbetween of tgmed and baymed, goonmed, and you guys bitched it was too complex. If you couldn't handle goonmed, you can't handle baymed.

Honestly, I really enjoyed Paradise the few times I played there (aside from the rampant weird fetishized furry characters) but the thing that got me was the art style and design. Like everything looked good, but it felt so weird playing it. Especially the jerky movement, I couldn't stand that, it was like playing a turn-based game.

I would like to update our medical system at some point, but I think baymed is far too complex and slow for a server that goes at the pace of /tg/. Combat and game progression is much slower on Bay, and you can spend an entire round in the medical bay from a single injury. It works for them, but I don't think it's a good fit for us. Hop on #lorebus on IRC sometime if you want to chat about medical updates, it's always something I've been keen on.

The goofmed test I remember was all over the place. Some of the mechanics didn't work properly and others were outright broken. You had lings who were perpetually stuck in a coma because they were in Stage 3 shock but at "full health". No one could handle it because it was insane.

The parts that DID work however were rejected for being too extreme.

I don't want to get too off-topic, but I would argue that at least part of the overwhelming negative response was due to how many issues the system brought up as a whole, rather than just the parts that worked properly. I think that if a cohesive, bug-tested system was implemented at that level of complexity, it may be better received. But that discussion probably belongs in another thread, haha.

the fact of the matter is that goonmed or baymed or whatever is just so radically different from our current system that no matter what, it WILL cause shock and upset because it's such a core change to the entire game

It's decent, they're the same level of RP as TG really where you have No RP memers and serious nanotrasen office RPers. Antags don't have much freedom though, at least one admin will get pissed if you maxcap the station without hijack and you'll get banned for murderbone/singuloose/plasmaflood without hijack. The movespeed is snail-tier compared to TG, wish rounds were a bit shorter rather than the 2 hours then automatic crew transfer shuttle.
