Most Hated Gamemode and Why

Self-explanatory titles for president. They really make all the explanation business snappy.

I don't really hate gamemodes much, except a lot of traitors are just bad.

Note: I removed Double Agents so that somebody would actually vote for something different. (Why has nobody bothered to fix that gamemode) Also the poll is reset.

It used to be changeling but newling is more boring than outright infuriating.

Probably Double Agent, since it usually devolves into running to your targets workplace and immediately killing them.

started out as "SEUCURITY PLEASE KILL MY TARGET FOR ME ;___;"

syndibombs get added, turns into 5 MINUTE SYNDIBOMB RUSH AND PRAY THAT MAYBE YOUR TARGET DIES IN THE STORM OF EXPLOSIONS
so syndibombs get removed from double agent rounds.

state of the mode currently is fuck yeah lets all parapen C4 each other that'll be fun for
nobody.

while i think the premise of the mode is solid and interesting, it's as if players are determined to find the least interesting way to win possible.

Add "steal syndicate papers from target" to that. Frankly, any objective that allows you to become a snitch two minutes into the round is fucking stupid.

I've always hated cult. Somehow I always get brutally murdered, made into an artificier, and abandoned in maint to shit out shells and shards every 10 minutes for the rest of the round.

Cult. Because it either just becomes extended because Sec curbstomped all cultists within the first few minutes of the game or the cultists do nothing.
On the flipside, when cultists pull their fingers out of their arse and do something it can be at least a half decent round.

Yeah, DA happens too often and it has way too many antags.

Apart from that most gamemodes look fine, I guess cult is in a transitory phase and hopefully it will be fixed.
Malf needs some changes and bugfixes too. It just does not work right.

Changeling.

Pretty much proven you might as well spawn punching bags because being beat on is about all your average ling is good for. Meaning both new and oldlings here mind you while newling made it even worse.

Talk about unrewarding too. Yeah you can win it but there are so many plumb moronic moments with this might as well be one dimensional antagonist. No flare either.

Wizard or Malf.

Wizard because spawn rounds are generally extremely repetitive and unfun for anyone who didn't get survivor, which is typically most people, peaceful wizards are pure extended cancer, and hostile wizards are only threatened by a small percentage of the crew that has access to chems or high explosives while admins have made it clear that using either carries the risk of being banned, lovely.

Malf because against an experienced AI it's basically "those ~8 guys with gloves better go kill the AI while I stand behind these doors and question my existence.

Traitor/DA also needs new items to freshen it up, every traitor round blurs together for me... and as a result there are rarely "memorable" traitor/DA rounds.

As I brought up earlier today in #coderbus, I think we need to keep trimming gear out: WMD items like singu beacon/powersink for example are too destructive with the increased amount of antags.
"Instawin" things like parapen and revolvers also should be removed. Stetchkin is a much better alternative here for a firearm, because it doesn't put someone down in two shots.

If we can get people to stop para-c4ing each other, and stop nuking the entire station in the hopes of maybe hitting their target, then we can actually see the interesting traitor-on-traitor dynamics the mode is theoretically capable of.

There's also the possibility of adding new DA-specific items to fill the gaps left behind by filtering out those items which aren't suitable for DA.

People use bombs and powersinks to make the round end faster, not to hit their targets.

First step in fixing Double Agent is to make it so the Double Agents don't know they're Double Agents. Just traitors with an objective to kill someone, who is also a traitor.

This would be a good start. With the policy as it is now, DA just means "you're a traitor, kill this guy if you want or just blow up the station and call it a day" and that's silly.

Come on, DA isn't that bad. One time I killed a DA in self defense with a revolver only to get ambushed by another DA minutes later while trying to hide the body of the guy I just killed. Then, while he was trying to hide my body, he also got attacked and killed by yet another DA. Watching this murderchain progress ad infinitum was very amusing to watch, even if I had died in the process.

Granted, most people don't go as covert as the example above and prefer to go balls-deep with the station destruction, so perhaps Double Agent just needs a tweak to the items available in the uplink to be more suited towards assassination rather than causing widespread mayhem.

Unless your in Security.

My vote on the "worst gamemode" would have to go between Rev and Changeling. I would just edge out Rev as the worst.

The main reason I dislike Rev is that it essentially forces Security to metagame in order to catch out the revs, there is no reasonable IC way in hell for Security to give someone caught with a flash and/or using it a loyalty implant, and people make damn well sure to call this out to Sec at the round end (Usually when I help lead Sec to victory). As well as the fact that you can be gearing up in the first minute and walking out the second to 20 people trying to rush into the brig.

Changeling is iffy for me since it often turns into "Extended: Feature the occasional Alien", Ling has gotten some nice buffs as of late, but it has not done enough to better establish the mode as its own. Hence why I fell in love with the Shadowling round.

Well, ling is less hatred and more boredom most of the time.

DA idea: Remove codewords, but give the identity of at least one other antag. This may or may not be your target, and they may or may not have you as a target. Add some way (document exchange?) of heavily encouraging them to work together.

Rev. Why? Well, I play assistant mostly when I don't want to be forced into doing anything, and I breath a sigh of relief when I go assistant and don't get traitor or changeling or whatever. When I start a round as assistant, see I'm not an antag, begin to collect what I need (toolbelt, gloves) and then get flashed and become a rev, I almost lose the will to continue playing. Suddenly being forced into an antag role, and so quickly at that, just makes me lose interest in a round, especially one that is basically everything I don't want to be as assistant. Despite hacking into everything, I don't want to have to go after security or head roles, I don't want to greytide or be generally unhelpful. And honestly the part I dislike the most about rev is that as an assistant, even IF I'm lucky enough to avoid conversion, everyone will be after my ass and the asses of other assistants. The revs will want cannon fodder, and security will be after me in case of me being a rev, and if the situation goes to shit I'm likely to end up killed on sight since rev rounds always end up leaving security in a shitty position.

Normal traitors on /tg/ have two objectives now, so this wouldn't work.
