Making the smallest station possible?

I always wanted a SS13 friends-friendly, TTT-like, where you could play with a bunch of friends (5 to 8). Sadly, most of the station (including Ministation) are not suited for this little amount of people.
My attempt at making this kind of station we're bad. After thinking a while, I thought the best way to achieve this is by away-missions or by making "departemental" sub-station. Like an entire station consisting of a mining outpost. Any idea?

Make a teeny tiny station/ship with one job per department. No access on the doors (with a few exceptions like a secure room in each department for storing valuables like the armory or med storage), the only person whose ID really matters is the captain because he's the only one who can launch the escape pods.
The job list could be captain, engineer, doctor, scientist, QM, two officers, and a clown.

the smallest station possibly is probably a scout / exploration craft with 4-5 rooms total in it.
it could feasibly be made and probably quite quickly; you don't really need an atmos setup beyond a few air tanks and some piping and power could be provided by a few SMES units in engineering.

I saw this one on Bay many moons ago and kinda sorta liked it.

How about Metastation's recovery ship? It is fitted with several machines and objects where a small group could thrive.

The BEARCAT.png thing seems AWESOME. I want to try it out. Any DL link? Couldn't find one quickly on google. (I'll probably try to map it myself otherwise)

Asked /r/SS13 for the bearcat map. Found it. Linking it to whom want it

I saw a 7x7 fully functional station on the old forums

I suppose you could have an 8 man crew of:-
- Captain
- Chief Engineer
- Chief Medical Officer
- Scientist
- Security Officer
- Quartermaster
- Botanist/Bartender/Cook
- Clown
Using something like the Bearcat map with the very basic access restrictions, like 4-5 doors with access restrictions and said access restrictions are really generic.
- Captain can go anywhere but only he has access to the cockpit.
- Only the CMO can access the chem lab and the Operating Theatre
- Only the CE can access the the power and atmospheric systems.
- Only the scientist can access the DA, exofab, Circuit imprinter and protolathe.
- Only the QM can order more equipment or access the autolathe.
- Only the botanist can access hydroponics.
- And only the sec officer can access the armoury (which is like - 2 laser rifles, a riot shotgun, ion rifle and a bunch of old-fashioned disablers + armour)
Would be interesting if you could make the Bearcat behave like a shuttle and move between z-levels

Making the Bearcat move like a shuttle would open up interesting possibilities for an SS13 crew-adventure spinoff. A dungeon crawler with more RP. Accept missions from Centcomm to go investigate the ruins of some station, fight syndies, or act as envoy to the Clown Planet on a mission that goes horribly wrong.

A bunch of dudes on Reddit were making FTL in SS13 with movable ships and mannable subsystems.

I've turned the meta whiteship into basically a fully functioning station multiple times.
Comes complete with full medbay, full R&D/robo, viro, genetics, teleporter, atmos/engineering (no engine since it has magic power), AI, botany/kitchen, tcomms, bridge shit and relevent mining machines. Also a full camera network and disposals, but last time I tried it, both were really buggy under certain conditions when moving the ship (cameras stop working after returning to a location the ship has previously been in, and disposals just broke on move), dunno if it still is like that.
Now that ship walls can be deconned, it's even easier/more flexible, but it really boils down to what you define as a station/what it should have, but a functional one can be made micro as fuck.

Having Tcomms exposed to space seems a bit hazardous.

I think T-comms gets hot. I know the R&D server does. If it does, you have to keep it somewhere cold or in vacuum so it doesn't make the air too hot. I almost got killed by an overcooked R&d server once because I underestimated how hot it gets.

a tiny containment cell + an external cooling loop probably looks cooler and is safer.

I am fairly certain machines generating heat was removed for causing atmos lag

From what I'e been told machines generating heat was never a thing. The only reason tcomms is cold is because it was planned but never actually happened.
Also Lumi was that like a 40 hour round or something

They did produce heat, and it was removed for atmos lag.
The heat would warm up the cold air, equalise out, then warm up again, equalise out, etc. ad infinitum for the rest of the round.
It essentially kept the Tcomms room active (atmos processing) for the entirety of every round, for essentially no gain as it would always equalise so you'd never even notice it made heat, hence why the cold room stayed to keep *the idea* that it generates heat, without the wasted processing.
It's kind of like when Centcom used to have machines, but then they were replaced with fake machines, it kept the idea that centcom was technological, without the wasted processing.
The R&D Server, however, still does produce heat.

i wish more machines had heating/power/gas/cooling requirements tbh. most stations run on autopilot and it sucks.
there's no more room for piping unfortunately, but a radiator system (big panels on the outside of the station) to disperse heat would be pretty cool.
