Lavaland Ashwalker and General Suggestions

Decided to do some writing for Lavaland's Ashwalkers to add more flavor and less "Kill everyone" motivations.
The thought of a tribe/village having to survive and build up from nothing has always been a fun little idea of mine.

Will probably update this list weekly.
Need more suggestions~

Crafting:

*Ashen floors, walls and furnature.
*Sandstone floors, walls and furnature.

*Primitive Furnace for smelting ore.
*Primitive/Makeshift tools.

-----

Randomly growing plants:

*Ashen Trees
-Provides wood in lavaland.

*Blood Roots
-Omnizine, high morphine count will paralyze for a minute or two.
-Makes excellent nutrients for growing plants.

*Water Shrines
-Provides water in lavaland.
-Large shrine shaped plants that serve as an infinite source of water.
-Can be found in Ashwalker villages and in the wild.

-----

New Locations:

*Ashen Groves (Common, at least 4 on every map)
-Large group of random plants of various kinds.

-----

New Factions:

*Nomads
-Civilized Ashwalkers.
-Homes made of Sandstone.
-Excellent potential for trading encounters.

-----

Mechanics changes:

*Cloaks protect against ashstorms but will slow you down while wearing them during said ashstorms.
-Grants native factions the benefit of ashstorm travel.

*Ashwalker blood is naturally regenerative, so much so that one can awaken from crit if they're not finished off.
-This is due to ashwalkers not being able to preform CRP and lacking supplies, a generous Ashwalker could sacrifice some of their blood to stabilize and save someone.
-This ability only activates when sleeping or unconscious.

*Ashwalker+Nomad villages have the following rooms:
-Sacrificial Shrine - Bringing 3 mortal bodies to the shrine will create a portal to summon an Ashwalker from beyond.
-Prison+Slave labor - To give an option other than killing while providing resources.
-Farm - Because farming.
-Stable - For Ashwalker grubs.
-Everything else will have to be created.

*Keys for non-airlock doors.
-To allow players to build homes/Access only clubs in maint and lavaland.

Playing as Ashwalkers/Podmen/Golems has been a pretty fun experience for me and a few others!
Though with a few additions this could be so much better~

I'd rather that a side antag dead role with antag token should be given less content and nerfed, not more content and buffed.

It's a free antag token, that allows you to respawn infinitely so long a corpse is recycled, and you're meant to play for a job not to waste slots and play dead roles.

I think egg spawns should be restricted to 1 egg per 2 bodies.

Also they're nothing but disruptive to the round. The nest needs to have it's health halved; it's too annoying to kill.

It would benefit your argument to do your research before posting! I do not agree with limiting content and the amount of enjoy-ability of any role. What is wrong with Ashwalkers getting a few neat playthings?

Do you have any reason beyond that 1) They are an antagonist ghost role and 2) You dislike lizard characters and those who play them? As long as miners are not baiting them to invade the station, they will not have any significant impact on the station roles beyond killing miners and reduced corpses to process.

Anyway, what do you think about letting them craft musical instruments? You could have some sort of tribal dance and song going! Maybe a big horn to act as a war cry, whipping all the lizards into a frenzy (fluff-only, of course)!

J_mad i do not really understand your beef with it. They are an interesting foil for the miners, can occasionally cause some modicum of roleplay. Does it just make you mad that ghosts can get pseudo antag when you work so hard readying up every round? People seem to enjoy it from both sides, why hate on people having fun in a way you do not approve of?

my beef is that it's a dead-role antag token and promotes people to not play jobs on the station (people are suicide-lavaland role if they don't get antag).

right now ashwalkers overwhelm and death is meaningless. players literally greytide the mobs because you can IMMEDIATELY CLONE by pulling a body into the tendril.

Make the more kills/sacrifices you make the higher title you get. maybe the elder is the ligger ashwalker that sacrificed the most.

It's not though

You could find 7 quadrillion easier ways to valid people if you want to take them, so observing or even suiciding to get a chance at ashwalkers that might not even spawn, and are also not guaranteed to not having a big legion spawning inside their tendril is not a very good way to go about being an antagonist.

My biggest thing with ash walkers right now is that it seems like there should be some rules set up surrounding them. Last time I played a round with ash walkers they basically killed the miners, stole away to the main station, and then just started killing indiscriminately and when the emergency shuttle arrived they just sort of continued to murderbone on the shuttle. To me, this seems like a dick move and kind of an abuse of the role. Personally, I think as a rule they should stay in lavalands, akin to how people who chose wizard academy defender roles had to stay confined to that area. Killing miners? Fine. Killing miners and taking over the mining station as their new village? Also fine. Going onto the main station and doing whatever you can to kill as many people as possible? That's just a bit too far.

They're literally lizards with spears, they have no access and can't use guns. If a bunch of spear lizards can overcome the entire station and murder all the way to centcomm then it means nobody really cared about fighting them.

When you bump into ashliggers as a miner and don't feel robust enough to take them all by yourself, just ask sec for a killsquad. I guarantee that you'll always find some officers or greyshirts willing to arm up and hunt down some savages

Proto kinetics are hella deadly in ashland and rip through the lizards most of the time. Hell I only ever won against a miner after dancing around him for 5 minutes because he got careless and moved too close to me so I could slip a dark evil sword I got from a tendril in a previous life inside him.

Facing basic miner starting gear is an enormous challenge if they ever beat any station-siders using armoury gear I would die laughing.

Hell the biggest hurdle is the kind of retard who wants to bumrush the mining station before doing any proper hunting leaving you alone against the mobs.

It's not like they have ammo like I have a limit on spears.

You can also miss, and it's impossible to hit someone with a spear in the diagonal walkways of lavaland, projectiles don't fly well in those.

You can also fail to embed, which means that your spear did nothing and you no longer have a weapon.

Would there be any way to make the lavaland mobs neutral to ashwalkers until attacked? as it is it's almost impossible to win a fight against a goliath unless you have smart mates next to you, this is mainly because the only way to damage them is to get right into melee, which is of course a bad idea with goliaths.

You can potentially carry 3 spears and drag a crate full of spears its still more unwieldy and inefficient than just having a short range gun that shoots forever.

Every time they move there is a cooldown before they will next move if you duck in after they move you can get some hits in even the guy I learned this from occasionally got swatted still more efficient than having a guy basically beaten useless each time you take them down in a group.
Also you can beat it till it agros on you or probably will and run away, whoever it is mad at runs and dodges while the other ones whack it until it picks another target.

This is unlike say ash drakes who either glitch out under group melee and do nothing or hit you with melee attacks rapidly for just being near them.

Oh, maybe make the original ash walker eggs stay ash walkers, but new eggs are kobolds? would make for a definite way of identifying the leadership
