More races!

First: Crab people. Lumbermancer has the right idea about this.

Cockroach people! No difference I can think of, other than looks.
Fish-people! They breathe water, and need a tank of water to breathe.
Slug people! Allergic to salt, but not so much so that an assistant can murder one with a single shake of a saltshaker. Ingesting or touching salt should do 1 burn for every unit of salt.
Mantis people! They can't hold stuff properly, but make you bleed with unarmed attacks sometimes. Not quite sure how to implement the difficulty holding stuff. Maybe can't pick up everything above a certain size? Or, a chance of dropping anything above a certain size. Or, maybe they can only hold things in their mouth. No firing guns with their mouth though. Okay maybe.
Firefly people! They always give off a little bit of light!
Bat people! I... don't know what they'd do.
Also, tell us your race suggestions!

I'm obviously biased since I designed /tg/ Plasmamen, but I really do enjoy nonhuman races. THAT BEING SAID. There are three ways that it can go when you add more nonhuman races:
1. You end up like Citadel Station (Aka Vore) and you have a MILLION races, all with shitty sprites and so poorly conceived that most of them are a travesty. Last I heard you can play beholders (yes, the DnD kind) on there. Allofmywut.
2. You end up like Paradise Station which in all honesty has a ton of fun and interesting races with varied stats and abilities, but the station ends up turning into "Cantina Station 13". Basically, the cantina scene from Star Wars, where aliens outnumber the humans 10:1 despite Nanotrasen supposedly being a human company and humans being the dominant race.
3. You have /tg/ as it is right now. We've got two races that are work well (humans since they're the "base" for balance, and Plasmamen because they are almost strictly worse than humans and have been designed to be fun and interesting). And we've got two races that are simply nonhuman reskins (Flies and Lizardpeople) that are oftentimes only played for the memes, unfortunately. However, the station is still dominated by humans, the ratio makes sense. There are typically 5 or so lizards on high-pop, and one or two plasmamen and fly people.
Personally, I think we could do without flypeople, and lizards could use a hefty redesign to make them a little more interesting and less of a "joke" race, but people play them and enjoy them and it's not ruining my enjoyment of the game. But if we just add a ton of random races with no real reasoning aside from "why not?" we're going to end up like Citadel or Paradise.
Sidenote, the 'Gungan' race, Glorfs, were put into a PR as a meme by someone who doesn't like nonhuman races, they're sure as shit not getting added.

I like Plasmamen simply because they are a unique race with unique mechanics that force a different play style out of them.
I dislike Lizards because they are just Humans with a different skin attached, and a lisp.

Liggers should have a random chance on spawning in that they're in the malting stage.
Doesn't do anything special except maybe change their sprite a bit and they leave flakes of sheded skin all over the place.
Just so liggers are as disgusting as they should be
