WIKI IMPROVEMENT MONTH (PRIZES TALLIED)

We have a lot of new players who use the wiki as a resource to learn how to not conk themselves in the head with a toolbox. Even old players use the wiki basically all the fucking time. However, the wiki is probably more out-of-date these days than it's been in years, and a lot of its primary editors are gone, promoted or banned. What to do? Turn it over to you! Why should you care? Because there's a...

PRIZE POOL! (To be added to with donations)
- One antag token each for the top three editors
- One copy of System Shock 2 from Drynwyn
- Maybe a copy of The Culling from Demon

What earns you points? Here are some examples. They don't encompass everything but they give you a good idea:

THREE POINTS:
- Creating entirely new, substantial and necessary pages and/or guides for missing content
- Turning "stubs" or placeholder pages for important content into fleshed-out pages

TWO POINTS:
- Adding missing or useful information to existing pages
- Adding photos or diagrams, or updating outdated ones
- Correcting or removing false or outdated information

ONE POINT:
- Creating a "stub" or placeholder page
- Improving shitty writing
- Improving formatting
- Spelling and grammar shit

ZERO POINTS (DON'T DO THIS):
- Making a bunch of tiny-ass edits one after the other for no reason but to try to farm points
- Deleting good content
- Making obvious meme pages
- Deleting obvious meme pages
- Vandalism
- Touching the wiki page for you-know-what

Where can I find things to add?
- https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Category:Needs_revision (pages in need of major revision)
- https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Special:Random (random Wiki page, probably something on it is wrong)
- https://github.com/tgstation/-tg-station/pulse (changelog)
- Basically all the maps are outdated, and could use screenshots of their major counterparts in rotation, Meta if nothing else

Please leave feedback, donate prizes, and make edits. The contest starts now and ends on April Fool's Day.

Umm.. I honestly don't know what myself? Probably a good idea to clarify for people? Unless you just meant it as a joke.

I think some kind of guidelines for security to follow would be good for the new red shirts, poor things barely know which end of the baton to hold, let alone which sentences to give.

Anyone else agree?

Hah, yes. Call it "Space Law Guidelines".

Do my weapon image, description, layout and armour image, def values, and expansion count?

Eh, this seems amusing.

I'll throw a copy of System Shock 2 into the prize pool. Seems appropriate since ss13 draws so heavily on it, and with all the AI arguments lately it'd be great if more people play the inspiration for SS13's AI (That and 2001.)

The space law article could use some improvement.

Ironically it does.

If the page is going to be gone forever then someone is going to have to comb through all the wiki pages, remove all references to space law and links to such, and fill in all the blanks left by the loss of space law.

One quick example is that on the "Security Guide" wiki page, there's a sub-section titled (I think) "brigging procedures", with it simply giving you a link to the relevant section in the Space Law page that details how to go about arresting and placing someone into a brig cell, the correct procedure. This is now useless so you would have to remove the link and add in a guide on how to brig someone properly.

So how does this work, are we going to just link our wiki accounts in here or something?

I mean I'll fix up articles for fun anyways but I'm just not sure how prizes are being handled

EDIT: https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Special:Co ... ns/Qbopper ignoring me shitting the bed with the chainsaw page I think I've got some respectable edits already (I swear I'm not farming edits, I'm just going through the wanted pages atm and fixing a bunch of broken links because it's easier and I'm short for time atm)

If your wiki account is wildly different than your forum name/ckey then let me know

points will be tallied up in a running scoreboard at some point when I get off my ass and do it. Points awarded according to the spreadsheet; if you do a bunch of edits consecutively to one article you only get the one/two points per

Use common sense. Let's assume the coders have added Clown Planet to the game.

If you make a Clown Planet page whose sole content is "HONK!" then you get no points.
If you make a Clown Planet page whose sole content is "Clown Planet is a new zone" or something similarly stublike, then you get one point.
If you make a Clown Planet page that is actually a fully fleshed-out page, then you get three points.
If you make a Clown Planet page that is a fully fleshed-out page, but do it in multiple edits, you still only get the three points.

You're logged into the wiki when you're logged into the forum. Shared user table IIRC.

Huh, I figured I had made a wiki account years ago and just set it to stay logged in, the more you know.

Most if not all large images on the wiki should now be 64px instead of 50px, this fixes the incredibly off putting nearest neighbor scaling which resulted in lines being twice their regular thickness and makes everything look crisp.

Templates were changed as well so if any of you start putting down more 50px images I will strangle you.

I should probably actually announce this at some point...

I'm adding a 20€ prize to each of the top three contributors, as ranked by bandit's ranking system. Redeemable either through Steam games or Paypal (I recommend Paypal since Steam will probably take 2 weeks to process with their stupid trade restrictions, but if you hate Paypal for some reason, Steam's fine too.)

And yes I know it's like 36 hours until the end of the month :D

So I am running into an issue, which is that for some reason the MediaWiki version the wiki is currently on doesn't let you scroll back Recent Changes, and I'm not an admin on the wiki so I don't have those options.

AYYY THESE ARE FINALLY DONE

The final tally:

Atlanta-Ned = OVER 100 (I stopped counting at some point because he obviously won)
TankNut = 35
Steelpoint = 30
Qbopper = 21
Anonmare = 19
Thundercoot = 16
Ricotez = 16
Demonfiren = 16
Anonus = 9
j_madison = 6
Stickymayhem = 5
Malkevin = 5
Meijerivoi = 4
Wafflecones = 3
Cfitz22 = 3
Bawhoppen = 3
The unloved rock = 3
Not-Dorsidarf = 2
UnlimitedSpessmans = 2
John Oxford = 2
Hornygranny = 2
Boredone = 2
Cavoglave = 2
Sweaterkittens = 2
Stiph = 2
Cheimon = 2
Iamgoofball = 2
Saegrimr = 1
TheLongbowman = 1
AngryTurnip = 1

So the prizes:

ONE ANTAG TOKEN EACH for the top 3: Atlanta Ned, TankNut and Steelpoint!
MORE ANTAG TOKENS: Because we have such a steep drop-off in points and I might have goofed the tally: Top 8 gets antag tokens too, this means Qbopper, Anonmare, Thundercoot, Ricotez and DemonFiren
SYSTEM SHOCK 2 for -- fuck Drynwyn never said who. FOR SOMEONE! (Realistically speaking please make these 4th and 5th place and work it out with DemonFiren, Qbopper and Anonmare who gets what)
THE CULLING (maybe) for -- same, DemonFiren this is now your problem
SURPRISE PRIZES! (AKA I FORGOT TO EDIT THE POST BECAUSE I SUCK): 20 euro's worth of Steam dosh or PayPal for, again, Atlanta Ned, TankNut and Steelpoint! This prize is donated by LiamLime so get in touch with him

Let me know if something looks off and I will hate you until the end of time for making me re-tally this shit look into it.

Thank you for helping make the wiki a little bit closer to great again.

DemonFiren, it's not hard, don't make this complicated for everyone involved. You can see from the results which people are meant to get what from who, make your decision based on this. I followed through with my reward. Two have claimed it already and the last recipient is notified but has not responded yet.

Well I got my Euro cash prize so I'm quite happy, that's going towards Stellaris.

For the antag token is that just put in our notes and we can claim it whenever?

E: Also how many antag tokens do the top three get? I'll gladly accept my years supply of antag tokens, meaning in my case at best that would be two tokens.
