For every stupid thing I caught on video there were a few hundred had-to-be-there moments of Errorage being backed over by a truck Tsaricide carjacked or Petethegoat ensuring me "This cover is perfe-" *sounds of multiple bullet impacts in soft tissue* then me dragging his ass out of the most PLATOON-esque shitstorm of incoming enemy fire...

Image

The time we ran off into the hills leaving the unit in someone else's command to go on a "commando operation" which really meant we were sick of trying to lead all these morons into battle and just foisted the duty off on someone else. We watched from the hills with our binoculars as people stood and argued about mission goals as the CO dumped half a magazine into one of his grunts for not following orders...

Everyone arguing over who the best pilot was (it was always me, you fucking liars)

Everyone racing to be the sniper

Everyone wandering way out of formation because they saw a patrol they could shoot at to increase their K/D, then wondering why we're suddenly being attacked by an entire platoon of enemy forces

Errorage always dying first.

It was a magical time.

Sometimes we actually managed to operate. When we weren't fucking around we were actually pretty competent, but fucking around was so much more fun.

ANYWAY

Status: Officially Happening. Install Arma3 and start downloading that mod-pack. It's fucking gigantic, at 20gb. If you can't figure out how to make it all work I'll try to explain it to you but we're going to war with or without you. You'll need all that shit + TS3.

I seem to recall everyone dying except me and petethegoat, so we had to trek ass to some 4 house town in the middle of assfucked nowhere and oper8 on some kebabs while you guys all respawned and picked us up in a jeep that pete promptly crashed. And after all that bullshit the mission end was bugged and we all just kinda sat in the little boats and logged out.

@wiznard it is fine, this is the super simulationist kind of wargame where you hide behind a box and shoot more or less blindly at shadows so the graphics will not be a large hindrance

There were some ops we did where we were genuinely kicked ass.

I definitely remember flying the squad to a town in our Blackhawk, then hovering over a neighborhood so everyone could rappel down and evict some kebabs who were squatting in freedomland. Was it you who was my copilot at the time? I turned the controls over to my copilot for a bit so they could practice orbiting the town and flying around while everyone mopped up.

We had a night-time OP to kill a high-priority dude, which we stealthed flawlessly, but then got chased by a Black Shark all the way to our exfiltration point...which is when it decided to open up with a rocket strike and kill like 9/10ths of the unit.

There was that one OP where we had to blow up the Oil Refinery and then, yeah, escape in boats which never fucking worked right.

Pete made that OP where we were freedom fighters attacking another Oil Refinery...only it was nearly im-fucking-possible and we never managed to complete it.

I am down, though I have to admit I would prefer a more... detached infantry role. I remember our times busting out of prison much more fondly than when I was saddled with a squad lead who struggled to get people to line up and ordered us to fight with assault rifles at over a kilometer range, though to be fair I think that squad leader was Errorage and he really didn't seem to want to be there.

I still remember when Swarge blew us up with grenades twice during the initial breakout. The first time was annoying, the second was funny as hell.

You'll need Team speak 3 as well for comms. ACRE will have a plugins folder in it, take the .DLL that matches your TS3 install and put it in the plugins folder in your TS directory.

Important keys you'll need to know

Capslock to use your radio. This is the default. If your setup sucks and you have to use push to talk you might have to change this. There are more buttons for fucking with your radio but you probably wont need them.

Tab + mouse wheel changes your speech between whispering and shouting. Basically the range at which people can hear you talk. You can/should just crank it up to shouting unless we are doing TvT stuff.

Windows key brings up ACE's interact-with-others dial
Left Control + windows key brings up ACE's interact-with-self dial

I wasn't present for any civilian massacres and deny any official involvement with any person(s) who may have committed war crimes.

The Wild Hogs is a mercenary unit in fine standing who always follow the various military conventions of the UN.

Next question please.

I fondly remember our days of guarding a checkpoint from kebabs. Which involved just shooting into the air and refusing everyone entry into freedom land.

Until someone interpreted "shoot to scare civvies away" as "double tap the driver through the windshield".

Then the carbomb came. Which was more like a dirty nuke crammed into a subcompact and the whole checkpoint got leveled.

"Okay if you fall off the stairs and break your leg you officially lose tower privileges!"

Alright, and what folder do I cram the other mods in, or does the download have instructions?

Also does this site require you to use the installer or am I just dumb and unable to find the download button?

Also why the fuck did they get rid of the training levels and change shit to be Tron?

Just install the play with six client. It'll do all the work for you.

Create an account.

Login to your account.

Click install the collection on the link. If it doesn't automatically install, check in your client (login to it with the account you created before trying to install the collection) and it should be a collection you are subscribed to.

Wow this client is stupid. How do you fail to make it so it can search for collections by name?

Can you add a tag to the collection? I cant add it from my browser and I cant find it in the client because the search function isn't smart enough to realize I am searching by name.

I told K64 to do that last night. I'll bug him about it again today.

If you have logged into the site and tried to install it, then log into the client it should show up in your collections and you can install from there.

I had the same issue last night but that fixed it.

How to never explode:

Use structural supports on literally everything, even if you plan to stage it away because the seperators also will get rid of supports for you, and make sure you have the smallest re-entry craft possible, both in terms of total height, you should only be attempting re-entry with things that need to come back such as crew compartments and labs, and making sure nothing juts out past your heatshield. Anything like solar pannels or large science modules should in some way be behind the heat shield, either because the craft tapers off or because they are in a service bay. You should only ever need one heatshield for re-entry, and make sure it is both exposed and the lowest part of the craft, it does no good if something is on top of it. Aim your ship retrograde so that the heatshield faces the direction you are going and you are all set. Then make sure that your never completely removing your orbit when attempting re-entry, instead just make sure your periapsis is somewhere between 25,000 and 29,000, so that your heatshield can do its job and let you craft burn off speed with an aerobrake. If you have a lot of spare fuel for setting up re-entry get your orbit to a 75-30 and gently descent to the planet in a graceful, gendle, firey glide.

Boom. As long as you don't do something completely retarded like having a scientist pilot, opening chutes to early or late, or directly expose any part of the craft to engine heat you will never explode during basic maneuvers.

Now stop trying to make things not explode and help us make things explode!

Get that space shit outta here.

The only inter-stellar travel happening in this thread is when the Arma physics bug out and your ATV gets launched into the stratosphere from bumping into a rock. Gif related: Arma 3 Space Program.

play with six is legit the worst program designed by mans hands

its never worked and last time i had to fucking go and change to only using ipv6 for some reason and now its telling me that i fucking dont have enough space and then gives me an error, no explanation

this is literally why hitler and stalin were born into this world no joke.

By the by the collection has been updated with the tag "Wildhogs" so if you are trying to find it inside the PlayWithSix client try typing that into the search. No it's still borked. Trying to get to the bottom of it.

Keep in mind it's like fucking 20gb of shit you're downloading there m80.
If it's telling you you don't have enough space you might not actually have enough space?

I mean, PlayWithSix is still a huge piece of shit, for sure, but it's the easiest way to make sure everyone has everything vs. making a gigantic fucking list of all this stuff.

If you can't download all that shit but want to try playing anyway get at least CBA, ACRE, and ACE.

If you download, configure, and enable just those three there's a decent chance you'll be able to play most missions. Don't be surprised if you randomly get kicked by the game for not having necessary stuff for some missions, though. Or you start getting killed by invisible enemies, spawn naked without any gear, etc...

You will probably have a BAD TIME but the rest of us will at least get to laugh at you.

Yeah, that would be great. PWS is literally the worst download client I have had the misfortune of using. The only reason that I am currently using it is because there's no better alternative that keeps the mods up to date.
That, and I have no idea on how to go about setting up a repo for the stuff.

So do I need to do anything special after downloading this monster? Because now I can't even open Arma.

Re: Wild Hogs Ride Again

Once you've downloaded it, I found it worked far better to just use the Arma 3 launcher and activate the mods that way. Since PWS is extremely shitty and is a massive memory hog.

That is assuming you're trying to launch Arma via PWS.
