This game looks to be what Spore could have been. Still early access but looks like it could be decent.

I once hoped for Spore 2. Then, I learned that Maxis has been assimilated by You-know-who. Strangely enough, given their logic they should make a sequel. Weird.

Well there was Darkspore, the darker and edgier Spore based ARPG spin off game... Wow, you know what never mind, let Spore stay dead.

Yeah EA axed maxis. Whole studio is donezo.

I will withhold judgment for now. Here's hoping it turns out good because 2008 me was really disappointed in Spore

Will Wright left Maxis after Spore

I think the only game the studio made after that was the new SimCity

And Sims 4 before they got killed off by EA

But if EA's axed their sacred cow who are they going to grab the bruised and abused teats of the sims franchise?

Good games have come out of early access. Not everything is Space Engineers or DayZ.

Space Engineers is still getting a ton of content updates though.

Buggier by the week, and less playable.

You almost need mods for that game to be decent.

Xenonauts was the only completed game that came out of early access and that was largely complete from preorder funding prior to going early access on steam (and it was following the concept of a previously made game).

Satellite Rain got tossed out the door early with a bunch of things missing.


What are these good games that have left early access?

Kerbal Space Program, Prison Architect and FTL

Unmodded KSP is hell. And I kinda think the whole thing's a bit overpriced, anyway, but there's always /kspg/'s way of getting the game.

Dankest dungeon is a little slow in development but still really good and has been completely playable since I bought it. They even listened to the whining mob of babby casuals and made corpses and heart attacks toggleable in case you have a vagina. Can't wait for the actual darkest dungeon to be implemented
