I got a new knife. Which is good, because I've wanted a small fixed blade for ages and all my folders are getting worn the fuck out.

What can I say. I'm tired of seeing him suffer. I want peace and an end to that suffering. Living or dead. I'm at peace with it.

It's an immense gift just to see him. I am happy with that. I'm surprisingly perfectly fine.

If you're looking for more misery I've got a little something. The year we got separated I could tell things weren't great. We were both depressed, my ex-wife and I, but I wanted to make a big push anyway. Try to just make it happen anyway.

She always hated her birthday. She was afraid of getting old. She had a lot of nightmares about her teeth falling out. She was scared of her hair getting thinner, scared of the hair that always shows up in the tub after a shower. No matter how much I reassured her or distracted her it didn't work. So I decided to just say fuck it.

For her birthday that year I threw her a huge surprise party anyway. She never had one as far as I knew. I got all our friends, packed our place to the brim with people, music, food, drink. Decorated. Got her a top of the line netbook and some other stuff she had wanted.

And it was great. She came home and I think she was actually surprised and for a while she enjoyed herself. Everyone had a blast. She liked all her presents.

For my birthday that year she told me to get out of the house and her life.

If a mod could merge these that would be great but I have to triple post. So just one more point. You family is a gift. I don't specifically mean blood. I mean those you consider family. There are some that are blood that aren't family. There are some that you consider a brother or sister that are more genetically distant than Polynesians and Basques(don't actually know for sure).

Count your family. Your real family. Count them. Cherish them and celebrate them. For however long or little you have them.

I should comment that this my biological father in addition to familial father. I just felt the need to be inclusive. Because what I say is true.

Christmas dinner at the parents was a 3 course meal:

Whiskey-based crab cocktail
A pepper-sauce laden pork, really delicious. The sauce probably included whiskey
And
Whiskey-ice with homemade whipped cream and molten chocolate

I was unsure if I could safely drive home after, but it worked

Remember. I'm one of the old men of the server. It's all good. Talking about this and trying to help others is how I'm healing, preparing, and coping all in one.


I could make a dark joke(which is another way I cope) but perhaps I shouldn't so I won't.
