It has come to my attention that people don't like the current banner, so I figure what the heck, lets make a new one

Guidelines:
(728x90) to be shown on the main page of the site

Rules for the banner:
Banner can not contain any obscene or pornographic imagery.
Rule of thumb, if you can't post it on the forums without a spoiler or nsfw tag, it's not allowed.
Banner can not be an actual advertisement to anything unrelated to /tg/station.
Banners should be goofy and light hearted.
Banners may not contain personal attacks or attacks of character toward anybody.


The winning design as chosen by me will receive a 50 us dollar amazon gift card to spend on books or whatever it is people waste money on these days.

The 2nd one that NikNak made looks pretty good, top one is too memey and in-jokey, it would turn off new players.

In my opinion, the banner should cost like 5-10 bux per month to give more people the ability to add things to the front page. The 50 bux price is absurd.

When I first heard it announced, I was donating 5 bux per month, and would have increased it to up to 10 bux if I could get the banner, but when I heard the price, I just noped and kept it at 5. The banner's existence isn't inspiring anyone to donate more, meaning it's failing its purpose.

The banners go through MSO anyway, so they are curated.

Personally I think 5-10$ for a tgs related banner and 50$ for an actual advertisement banner are reasonable prices.

I can't sell ad space thru patreon, it's literally in their ToS.

I would be amenable to lowering it to 25. I picked 50 mainly because nobody had a donation of that amount at that time.

Well, more prominent projects than TGStation offer ad sales, such as product shoutouts on Patreon.

25$ is still way too much, in my opinion. I'm also fairly sure there are no donors in that range. See, what you're trying to do here is to convince people to start donating or to donate more. If there is nobody who wants to donate in the 25$ range, then selling stuff at that price point makes no sense. You can probably convince some of the 10$ donors to give 15$ instead or convince 5$ donors to give 10$ or convince 1$ donors to give 5$, and probably convince some new people to start donating at 5$ if they can get their banner up. Look at how much most people donate and set it to a little more than that. Alternatively set it to 5$ and try to get new donors.

Remember that convincing 4 people to increase from 1$ to 5$ is worth more than convincing one person to increase from 20$ to 25$. Also, you made up this price originally. The banner has no intrinsic value, so going from 50$ to 5$ isn't de-valuing the banner, because the banner is inherently worthless.

Could we make it a rotating banner? $10-15 per "slide". And each time someone visits the website its a random selection of say, 5 banners?

Kor's banner is 729x90, specs say 728x90

Banner price for the patreon has been lowered to 25 effective january 1st when december pledges are processed, oranges gets 2 effective january 15th unless he changes his donation.

He could have 3 if he raises to 75.

Unfortunately 25$ is still about 15$ more than I'd be willing to donate at max, so I guess I won't be getting a banner.

I guess I'll get three banner slots, so the top 3 will be displayed, the winner of the poll will receive the voucher.
