Spraypaint+borg lets you change its paintjob.
Drop down menu specific to each borg, as some may have more/less paintjobs available.
Including older models for real fun.

That one I know for sure isn't in code, that's just a quick dmi I whipped up to varedit in. (Lacks hatch open/closed sprite, running lights, flashlights)

These are "currently" in the dmi unless they've been cleaned out in the last 4 weeks or so.

i think i'm mostly okay with this as long as the shape of the borg is relatively unchanged. carp engieborg is fine, a green mediborg is fine, but a secborg disguised as a robotic Ian is not fine
the obvious exception here is serviceborgs, they should be able to get all kinds of silly skins

I think the only one that would actually work with alternate skins is service borgs. Every other borg actually has a very constructive use, so drowning out their aesthetic and making them harder to recognize with new skins wouldn't be too good.

Just let people put hats on cyborgs and call it a day.

Botanyborg skin is pretty nice, just green janiborg with a little squirter nozzle attachment. Unfortunately the scrubbers on it don't spin. I could probably fix that but it'd still see no use unless I was online hunting for janiborgs to varedit.

The treaded secborg/engiborg more or less keep the same looks for them, even if the treads look kinda shitty. /vg/ uses the bipedal borgs as selectable skins, plus some more that we don't have.

Yeah I mean like totally different shaped borgs. Since most of those more or less look the same with minor color differences, those are fine.

NO MORE SNOWFLAKENESS.

Other than service bots. Service bots can be snowflakes.

This could be really cool, as long as the paint job doesn't mess with the aesthetic. Things like riot sec borg, atmos engine Borg, etc

These are great, so long as the borg's module is still obvious!

It's blatantly obvious most of the time, by colour scheme alone.

It looks like a robot and wears purple and yellow? Miner.
Only yellow: engi; only purple: janitor.
Red and black? Security.
White and blue? Medical.
Anything else? Service.
(We better not have standard borg skins.)

Basically this. I think customization is cool.

The one thing I think is paramount is that you can easily differentiate between borgs and humans. I don't think it's of extreme importance to be able to quickly tell between a secborg and an engiborg though. It's similar to how a security guard can dress up as an engineer, and vice versa. I mean I wouldn't encourage it, but being able to change various panels and pimp your borg sounds cool to me.

I remember old cyborg humanoid skins.

I also remember paintable cyborg plating, where a colour variable could be added to specific parts of cyborgs' sprites somehow by in-game action to have all sorts of different colours for the different module shapes.

I'd like that, but in absentia, hats would be nice.
