Changing the color of command text

How about something that isn't YELLOW on White.....
We have a vast rainbow of colors at hand... Can we finally PLEASE change it to something that isn't so fucking hard to see and forces you to stop and highlight chat text to see what the hell is being said over command?

It's gold and I see it fine
Are you colorblind or something? You seriously have to HIGHLIGHT THE TEXT?

No its not my monitor I have very hard times seeing yellow on white. I mean you guys limit file size because less than 4 people play on here with 56k modems.. So why not help out the handful of people that have a VERY hard time seeing Yellow letters on white backgrounds...

How about we make all radio colours customisable player-side? I'm not sure if that's possible, but it'd help.

They should be black-bordered. I'm pretty sure the css available to use supports that.

A deep navy blue to match the sec hud icons could work. Something like this

Command-related things tend to be dark-blue anyway.

I have no problem with the current color, but this could also work.

The current text is perfectly visible but not very visually appealing imo, nor is it in line with the color scheme established for the department. Medical has light blue floor tiles, airlocks, text, etc, science has purple, sec has red, engineering orange, etc. All command-related things are dark blue, but the chat is yellow-gold. It's inconsistent.

Yellow on white is an objectively stupid color scheme anyway, so let's just leave it at that, please?

I'd advocate a dark blue colour over yellow, since it fits the Command "theme". And it should be dark enoguh to differentiate between medical radio.

I also have this problem and often highlight to see it.
If the yellow was just a few shades darker even, that'd be great, if you can't give it a separate color.
Also, Sec channel and admin OOC, though there is a PR up that changes those.

And do you know that there is major file size limiting on on the sever because 3 or four nuckle heads play on 56K modems?
And its not my monitor issue its my god damn eyes that i was born with and if you know a way to unfuck them then I will gladly do it.. Instead of stomping your god damn foot about it... And what needs of a yellow text for command chat gonna ruin your immurions? How is changing the color of the font to something easier to read than what it is that will break the whole fucking game? hmm What is it that will just make you and every one else in that
YOU ARE SPEAKING FOR willl make you all throw your arms up and say
fuck this game I can't play any more because command chat went form yellow to dark blue

That's not really the reason.
if someone uploads a 1MB file now, depending on how the song is constructed (ogg vs. midi lets say) the server will STILL smack to a crawl.

It was one of the reasons Coderbus gave me when i first signed up as sound dev, "keep it low enough for efficiency and we also have a few players that play on dial up, we didn't want to be unfair to them". I'm with Lunchbox on this, while i can see it just fine, if i'm not paying attention to the chat, it's very easy for me to miss it. It really isn't a big deal to do, if it's CSS then it's just six hex characters.

Eye problems notwithstanding, the current color is still ugly as shit and visually inconsistant with the established command color scheme

Well again, And I see no reason for any level of hostility here, and I find it sad that there is on a simple font color.
But yeah, it's not just one person, I often have this issue. It's not game breaking, but it is mildly irritating.
How bout purple? the color of royalty, it makes sense, and I can't think of anyone using it.

Science is already purple. Blue both fits the established command color scheme and would be easily distinguished from other colors (medical is a sky blue)

Obviously you've forgotten the existence of OOC text and action messages, both of which use blue - the same colour blue you're proposing.
Command chat is gold because yellow is the most eye catching colour to the human eye and the captain's id card is gold and gold channel was the command channel in Babylon 5.
Keep it gold, make it bordered black to improve contrast.

You could argue the same about admin OOC and sec. Even if they're similar colors I think you could easily tell them apart, not to mention that
OOC is something like this and
what I'm suggesting is more like this. Plus, how often does OOC flood normal chat during a round? Also, this only applies to about 6 players.

I'm fairly indifferent, dark blue would be fine. Ooc is a different font than radio chat, I doubt the two would be confused

1) AdminOOC is being changed to a dark purple color specifically because it looks too much like sec channel
2) OOC floods midround regularly, with no warning, and generally doesnt shut up until an admin tells everyone to stop yakking/something interesting happens ingame
3) I love the gold color, go away. Make it a few shades darker if you can't discern dark gold against white.

Service radio barely has a purpose. Telling the janitor to come clean up the kitchen or something, maybe.
Otherwise you just go to the window and tell botany you need X destroying angels for your next salad or whatever.

Yeah the only real purpose is for bartender to summon the janitor, for the bartender to ask for fruits/mushrooms/whatever from botany, and for the HoP to talk with kitchen and order a pizza or whatever. I generally use it most rounds as a botanist just to ask if anyone needs me growing anything before I grow 100 potency bluespace tomatoes and leave them everywhere, but I'm lucky to get a reply.
It's really much less of a deal than command chat considering command radio has long reaching consequences for the round, but if we're going with black outline for command chat I'd like it for service too.

Alrighty.
I'm fine with you changing it to blue, but let me point out.
More than 1000 people have accounts on this fourm, thats not including people who play and don't have a fourm account.
Don't try to quote me when i was wrong in the first place, it makes you look as bad as me.
No, god no, please don't make it purple.
Blue. Please.

I don't see the point of blacklisting an entire color spectrum because ONE player can't see it.
adjust your monitor to make yellow stand out more, even if your monitor isn't to blame, you can still tweak it to work with your eyes better.

I don't see how changing the color of command would ruin your game? Its a very important thing. its not like i am saying revert back to old ling bring back stung gloves.. this is a small change that will not affect the whole entire game.
