chaplain fishing sect

chaplain should have a fishing sect, because fishing is basically already a cult ingame

here is my cool and good idea for a chaplain fishing sect

fish for the fish god

you earn favor by offering fish that you fished up to the fish altar. it should only count for fish that you actually fished up with a rod to prevent lifish/explosive/wizard cheese

fish individually are worth very little favor, but the first fish of every type is worth way more. the initial favor earned should be from offering one of every fish to the fish god

null rod rod null

alongside the sect a new null rod is added, the null rod. it's a null rod fishing rod. a fishing rod that has the null rod's damage and antimagic properties. the null rod rod

it shouldn't be locked to the fishing sect or anything, just a new rod option

consecrate my rod

the first fishing sect rite is blessing of atlantis or something that sounds cool like that. it consecrates your rod. put any fishing rod on the altar and do the ritual and it gets a cool outline

fishing with a consecrated rod gives small bonuses to the rod's stats (+10% more exp/less difficulty/etc) and adds a 15%~ chance to catch a holy fish. holy fish are just normal fish that are flagged as holy and glow a little

offering a holy fish to the altar is worth more favor than normal fish but less than the initial bonus for offering the first of each type. getting all your friends to fish with consecrated rods should offer a steady stream of favor akin to how much you get from doing stuff like burning corpses with pyre sect or charging cells as machine sect

summon liquid

the second fishing sect rite is poseidon's gateway or something that sounds cool like that. you get to make a fishing spot

doing the rite at the altar gives the chaplain a single-use spell for a tiny amount of favor. when they use the spell, they can pick a type of fishing spot from all the normal fish sources (water, hyperspace, beach, island, lava, plasma, etc). each type has its own associated favor cost (beach is cheap, hyperspace is expensive), and if the chap has enough favor they can begin doing an incantation

when the incantation ends a portal opens up under them and makes the spot appear. the spot is basically an immovable, unchangable fishing portal to that location. the spot works the same as any normal tile that can be fished it. the chaplain can close the portal by hitting it with their bible but they only get a fraction of the favor back

free shit

the third fishing sect rite is neptune's bounty or something that sounds cool like that. you get free shit

the chaplain can basically do a little ritual to get a chest of fishing goodies to appear. the stuff in the chest is just reskinned versions of normal fishing stuff, stuff like holy fishing bags and holy plastic folding chairs and holy lures and holy cans of monkey energy, but it gives the chap a way to convert favor into a bundle of goodies to set up a little fishing community zone

the favor cost goes way up after every use but goes down as more fish are offered to the altar, so the chap cant just make cargo/science obselete. the favor reduction could even be per player (make fish track who caught them) so the more people fishing and offering the faster the cost resets, more people fishing equals more goodies

team saradomin vs team zamorak

the last fishing sect rite is rod of the gods or something that sounds cool like that. you get to make special rods

each special rod has its own recipe, and acts like an upgraded version of the rod its based on, with infinite superbait, better stats and other cool perks. as a downside, each is a bit costly to make and you can only make one of each

possible ideas for special rods:

-rod of [chaplains god] (null rod rod + flask of holy water + bible). upgrades the null rod rod with infinite bait and better stats. basically just lets you keep using the null rod rod even when you have advanced rod available
-rod of nar'sie (advanced fishing rod + 5-10 runed metal + a corpse). evil nar'sie themed super advanced rod, catches fish with evil colors and sometimes cult items
-rod of rat'var (advanced fishing rod + 30 brass + a toolbox). rat'var themed super brass rod, catches fish made of brass and sometimes rat'varian items
-rod of the honkmother (advanced fishing rod + 5-10 bananium + 30u space lube). clown themed super bananium rod, can catch hilarious clown items in addition to the bananium rod fish pool
-rod of the mansus (advanced fishing rod + any heretic item + a corpse?). heretic themed super advanced rod, can fish up heretic items like fishing in a rift without arm eating, and any heretic mobs it fishes up become crew friendly
-rod of the ashen tide (advanced fishing rod + 50 iron + a gas mask). assistant themed super advanced rod, can catch things like insuls and toolbelts and maintenance drugs
-rod of the unending ride (advanced fishing rod + 20 bone + any brass instrument). skeleton themed super bone rod, can fish up skeleton mutation toxin, skeleton themed items and any evil skeletons it fishing up become crew friendly
-rod of the devouring lord (advanced fishing rod + 50 plasma + mesons). singularity themed super plasma rod, can fish up anomalies (??? idk i just think a singularity rod is a cool idea)

basically any rods that have unique material effects should get a special version plus ones for all the gods and factions and other silly things

thanks for reading my chaplain fishing sect design doc maybe someday ill learn to code it

How many fishing rods could a null rod rod fish up if a null rod was a rod that could fish up fishing rods?

I second this. I had a similar idea but not nearly as fleshed out. I am on a Crusade (pun intended) to make service jobs more appealing and this is one of those things that would make it great. It's sad that there's hardly Chaplain players anymore because the sect idea has gotten stale. I would love for a slew of sects and I would be delighted to contribute.
