The lack of mime communication

I am not sure about how y'all feel about the current standing with mime communication, which is between just pointing and using the PDA to text emojis aka :airlock:.
I haven't seen any of custom emotes to describe what they are wanting, doing or just putting up a show of emotions.
To this end, I would like to request a crackdown on this behavior. There can be more unique interactions than someone that uses point emote 1000 times a round. This ties back to folks, not specifically mimes, that don't want to talk, so they don't get into trouble with admins, since they didn't have to explain IC what went down.

It's not always great but I do not want to punish players (especially ESL ones) for not being a good enough mime. In regards to people that do not want to talk, there is a mute quirk, but I feel as if not talking or engaging in a round is very poor for the game, it deprives a lot of interaction and ultimately interaction is what this game is built on, there is some nuance though I know myself that when I started out playing this game I did not feel as if I had sufficient context to properly engage with anyone and I am sure other new players have felt the same, really it is going to be context dependant, if there is someone running around and have ascended so far into powergaming that they are optimizing the speaking out of the game I feel as if that is an issue that should be addressed with that player.

I think this is something you have to encourage by giving people examples rather than punishing them for not knowing and expecting them to figure it out. We need to develop better educational materials that describe without prescribing.

I think we'd benefit from removing the mimes are valid if they talk policy, it kinda falls under the same trope clowns had in the past when they didn't wear their clown shoes, these jobs should be allowed to adapt and do their threatre play, a mime shouldnt be honorbound for the whole round due a policy made up by the community, if a mime wants to speak or a job change they should feel free to do so, though this will still be very valid grounds for demotion ingame
on the emoting part i think there should be standards i have seen many cases of mimes adding adjectives to their emotes like points to lenald wabbite is fine, but when you put something like points retard hos is kinds where it becomes lame
i also do understand why mimes spam point because sometimes its hard to catch somebodies attention they don't have time to figure out what ur trying to emote and just keep walking away for you hence mimes pointing at things becomes a more mainstream thing

A speaking mime is a terrible thing- I don't think it should be allowed. This comes back to what Rave says about leaving good examples. More solutions like limiting the mimes PDA are purely code based, so I can't comment on them. I will say, I don't really see this so often on mimes- maybe I just get lucky with the mime rolls?
Either way- when you sign up to play mime, you shouldn't be signing up to try to and cheese your way into basically talking. You should be signing up to use emotes and *smiles like

Maybe we could go about changing the hours needed or wiki page for mimes if its particularly prevelant.

Not everyone volentary signs up as mime some people get random rolled into the role because theirs wasn't available, i am a strong believer of killing the valid policy if they talk, i believe mimes should not be defined by a single mechanic on what they should do and shouldn't do just like clowns had with their clown shoes in the past they should just be able to talk and not het round removed for it i still believe it could be grounds for IC esculation just not to those extreme bounds, let them change their job if they chose to without getting valided over it because they chose to talk due changing their job i think mime using their PDA is still fine since it still requires some effort to think what they want. i think if we remove as much as valid on paper situations we could strive for a more healthier roleplay without having people trying to get every valid they see thats the mentality we should kill to some degree

By the nature of the game- people do voluntarily sign up for mime. You can set everything to medium and mime to off if you want to roll random without a mime. If you roll a mime and you didnt want to- thats just kind of tough. Regardless, I'm not going to die on this hill.

Okay fine but can we attempt to atleast reduce the level of valid mimes are then practically round removal so atleast to a degree asking for IC conflict with esculation in sense. i believe we should remove black of white thats valid this valid and just open it more to esculation that would create more intresting situations then i just beat the mimes head in with a toolbox because they spoke a word. we shouldn't be too hard on player playing the job or at some point nobody is willing to play it while still keeping the policy to the same at some regards just not as extreme.
