Turning Abductor into a full mode

Perhaps they are abducting people and doing their experiments to study humans for a full invasion done by their Psionically Powered overlords. If X amount of abductions are done then the invasion can begin the Abductor players get dissolved and put in the bodies of Psionic Overlord aliens and two players get put into the bodies of Gorillatons powerful shock troopers armed with plasma weaponry attuned to the data the abductors gained with their probing.

Psionic Overlords can mind control players with a long cooldown on mind control. Creating agents on the station to obliterate it and take over the station for themselves. Maybe they could release some sort of technoorganic virus that converts the station similar to the alien ships. It begins expanding rapidly and the psionic overlords and their troopers can kidnap people and turn them into more shocktroopers or perhaps an ayyyy and human hybrid with a short mind control ability.

I have played on a tg based server that had abductor as gamemode and it felt kinda lackluster. There were a number of issues:

-The abductors are not actually on the station most of the time, meaning little is happening in those periods.
-Abductor gameplay leaves little freedom in what to do as abductor, you look basically always look for secluded people, teleport in, take em with you and return them to the station after the experiment.
-The abductor teleporter is extremely OP and gets a competent alien out of an engagement virtually without fail.
-The counter play against being abducted is all gathering in one place, which is kinda boring

And the main one is that when you don't get abducted basically no shit happens during an entire round.

I feel the way the are NOW abductors are best fit as mid round antagonists same as the ninja and revenant. They can give a really interesting twist to a round already happening but just don't have enough meat to form an entire game mode

Abductors are a side antag through and through; they simply do not do enough to serve as an effective antagonist. I've found they add GREAT to the chaos of other roundtypes, though.

Being abducted is lame - You just disarm spam until you win or lose.

Xcom mode or Side antag is fine, they just shouldn't be left as is.
All credit to AnturK, Abductors are great, they're just a little misplaced at the moment.

Either way Xcom game mode would be neato. Add a new ALIEN tech research tree with it you can make plasma rifles and shit to fight the x-com enemies
