Make it against the rules, again, to hunt for the nukie ship

The meta has been Terry has become too much finding the nukie ship and messing with it (usually sending it back to base).
This happens maybe 20% of the time.
Largely it's based on foamed metal intercepting the ship's turrets.
It's less fun for everyone.

This was a thing for a while when the ship couldn't defend its self, which was dropped as a temp ruling once that got fixed.
I'd prefer the way forward to be to buff/fix the nukie ship and its defences, I guess penetrator turrets should be given cheating line of sight through foam, seems like that should restore the conventional balance?

Yeah I think a code solution would be better - give the turrets sight through metal foam (they're supposed to be "penetrator" after-all)

I think the play is probably to just buff the turrets/make using metal foam against them ineffective as opposed to implementing a rule like this. Sending nukies back the bomb is way too based for me to ban anyone for it.

The problem with making the turrets stronger is that they're already super oppressive when used offensively. I've seen the nukies park the ship outside of medbay on birdshot, and the turrets proceeded to absolutely decimate everyone in there. Giving the turrets actual wallhacks would only make that issue worse.

The nukie ship doesn’t have to have wallhacks against normal walls. It just needs to have wallhacks against foam metal walls. There doesn’t need to be any policy for this when a code solution can fix this entire problem.

The metal foam tactic is actually awesome, its like spraypainting a camera but with a grenade and guns. I say add more interior defenses, as the exterior turrets are already lame as hell to die to when you brush a window anywhere near them. Maybe an area bound hologram ghost role. turn that powercrept(all is powercrept in 2024) nukie carp into a holocarp that dies and reinitializes in 5 seconds.

Look; I agree. it was funny maybe the first five times. But now that it's a a meta it's too much. Getting into the nukie ship should be cool! But you need to work for it and with this (exploit?) it isn't. A code solution is best but I'm not talented enough to code one.

here we fuckin go again the guy who signed up to play the game constantly is finding the round based game repetitive. 20 percent of nukie rounds is quite rare to most players. This whole futuristic space station deal is repetitive too, i bet the DMV down the street will be a good change of pace, cause fuck cool shit Ive seen this episode before Ive been binging this series since 1993 and its your problem
Okay im spriting a carp shaped holopad stupid

The problem is that things like this are really cool the first few times someone does them, then they turn into "thing that just ends up fucking over the nuke ops every time". Our game doesn't have meaningful counters for literally everything, so whereas other games can have the meta just adjust, there's not really much you can do to prevent the foam nade thing other than just constantly moving the shuttle or finding a way to prevent it from being found.
It's a neat interaction, but players aren't going to just go "okay that was cool, let's never do it again". They're going to tell their friends and then do it every nukie round.

Code issue, also the nukie ship should be outfitted more or even come with purchaseable upgrades, it should be a better place to resupply and heal for nukies to use as a safe zone, and do its job at that so well that they may opt to have a single person guard the ship at all times...
But thats an issue with the gamemode more than the nukie ship itself, the meta for nukies is to keep going and going and going and going and going until you get the disk because you have alot of people to get through and there is a completely arbitrary clock counting against you (why do people say flukies if the crew abandoned the station to the nukies which is an even bigger blunder than letting them destroy it???)

Yeah seeing the same people hunt for the nukie ship everytime war is declared and metal foaming the shuttle is boring to watch
Either buff it via code or policy, but it grew stale a long time ago as is

just don’t get your ship taken over lmao
/s
I don’t actually know how common this is because I’m usually on body retrieval (or hiding) during nukies but a rule banning it would feel arbitrary to me. Make the shuttle hard to approach in game or some sort of item required to do stuff, not a rule against it. I feel like it would be better to solve via a coding solution (that isn’t just a blanket “crew can’t use the nukie ship console” I feel like it would be like barring cargo from being taken by revs because you see it every round. I feel torn on buffing their turrets because I feel like their ship broadsides already fuck up medbay or the departures shuttle as is.
Is there some sort of way to have the turrets target and shoot through something like metal foam or other easily breakable structures code wise?
I could see it working to make it so the console could require a nukie ID to unlock? (Don’t know if this is already the case, sorry if it is) That way you still have to take down one of the three dangerous guys to do funny stuff with the shuttle. At that point it’s on them if they got it stolen.

Not interested in making a policy for this, code solutions are probably preferable.
