Allow ASCII emoticons on LRP

I request them to be allowed as part of an emote,
in the image of the classic "*me smiles like :)".

- Actual emojis (that do show up instead of an empty square, for exaple: 👍 😈) only allowed as part of writing: paper, announcements, etc.
- Forbidden in spoken texts, *me over radio, and in use as the sole content of a *me emote with no text.

I believe this to be a bit of cheesy, harmless fun.
During my (illegal) use of such emotes, I've seen it bring a bit out whimsy from players that had only been serious and business-minded.
Well suited for LRP, but not so much for the higher standards of roleplay.

No, LRP is already sliding towards basically being NRP in a lot of ways and this would just kill what little immersion there still is.

*smiles like :) was a cute joke but it's only funny because it's not the standard. i don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy rarely slipping in a joke here or there that's "technically" OOC in IC, but as long as it's accepted as the rare exception and not the rule that only happens once in a sparse while, i think it's fine.

i already put emoticons and ascii pictures into my PDA messages and paper writing and stuff. this is already allowed.

>as long as it’s accepted as the rare exception and not the rule

My exact thoughts. If we put down policy allowing it, it’ll be used every damn round until the end of time and it’ll have lost the magic by the third. Admins are already free to make Rule 0 exceptions as per their discretion— if you’re catching heat for it, that means it’s not funny or it’s too often that you’re doing it.

Due to overwhelming community response and absolutely zero interest I’ve noted from my fellow headmins, I will be closing this with a no-change result. ASCII emoticons are still ock-ick and actionable as usual, with admins as always free to rule zero the really funny ones. Use at your own risk!
