Didnt think I'd see the day. Good luck to MSO in his future ventures and good luck to Scriptis in his hosting!

I can't shorten Scriptis to a 3 letter abbreviation like I can with TLE SOS and MSO.

Well this came out of nowhere, best of luck to MSO with whatever endeavours he undertakes.

I did notice that the server was having a TON of maintenance issues recently. It's why paintings dissapeared and such. Was this MSO just giving up when the terry box just died?

I really hope scriptis knows how to set up and maintain SS13 servers, networking, website, wiki, forums, TTS, TGS, TGDB, the ddos relays and all that security around it. It is a lot of work and knowledge to run an ss13 server with this much stuff attached to it holy hell.

Also the website code on the GitHub needs updating it's broken.

Thus shall begin the fourth era of /tg/station.

I've been a vocal critic of some of what MSO has done, but ultimately, he's done more good than harm in the community and has been doing well to keep things alive. I don't agree with him on everything, but he's done well, and I expect scriptis to do just as well.

I don't know what we're gonna do about the MC, but I also don't wanna tie him down if he needs breathin space. Sometimes a man needs a multi year tg break and he's been on this shit for 10

Sad to see MSO go, but the man has earned his retirement.

I personally think Scriptis will do a good job as host, and remain positive that he can make the /tg/ better in some way or other.

I have a few plants. Many people on the admin team felt as i do but could never figure out a way to express their discomfort with the discourse in a productive way.

When I ruled pick-me was misogynistic I had 3 people, mostly admins, pm me thanking me and saying they always hated how that word gets used.

When I went off on incel posters I had two people pm me thanking me for it, one is now an admin =).

When I had the male victims ban appeals going on with somepan, I got quite a few pms of support.

Now that I set the precedent and popped that bubble expect there will be voices behind the scenes advocating for keeping them =).

Fucking misandrist.

An insult hurled towards women that are considered to be calling attention to themselves by doing "things other girls don't" for male approval, like having hobbies that have a larger male percentage to "be different" rather than just enjoying that hobby.

i have mixed feelings about mso. in the realm of server hosts i’ve seen, mso is definitely much more well adjusted and less of a dictator than the other hosts that exist. with that said, the times that mso has ruled with an iron fist i find myself agreeing with him at times- so i don’t think all credit to him is simply that he doesn’t take action. very competent server host.

i cannot say i agree with his “political opinions” but i appreciate the spirit in a way. the MRA stuff i cannot stand in the same way i cannot stand bleeding-heart feminists. but i digress, my point about the MRA stuff is that the core issue of misandry is this expectation that men are strong and impenetrable; do not cry, do not be vulnerable. men get raped too, and im glad someone is talking about that. however, the constant censoring of “Involuntary Celibacy” just makes me groan and think that you’re arguing from a position of bad faith. “Involuntary Celibacy” culture is toxic at best and misogynistic at worst, and should be criticized for being as such. taking the position to censor the word entirely really just makes me not listen to anything you say.

*and to an extent women also have their “Involuntary Celibacy” culture too. the culture is different, and perhaps it’s more voluntary- the “all men are evil” kind of deal- but i digress

also you forum banned me for saying white privilege is real. so yeah it’s really hard to take anything you say at face value

anyways. talented and knowledgeable. godspeed to you and thanks for keeping the servers alive for 10 whole god damn years

if you don't see how using the word incel, as an insult, is a part of the patriarchal enforcement of toxic masculinity then I can't help you.

You can call out misogyny without making it an attack on their sexual history and reinforcing the notion that a guy's self worth is tied to his sexual conquests.

Honestly the same as how saying assholes have a small dick or how they are bald and fat is just pure body shaming. It actively hurts people who are good people despite having a small penis, lack of hair or are overweight by tying these traits to being an asshole.

kinnebian wrote: Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:39 am something clicked and i finally understand the argument mso is making
it clicked for me too but i still have trouble agreeing with the argument entirely. there’s a certain amount of caring and insecurity you have to have to find the word incel personally inciting. expecting a man to be a lady killer is toxic masculinity 101. but to me the word “incel” is not really just that. the word “involuntary” does the heavy lifting- it’s a position of entitlement. that you are OWED to have sex. that you didn’t choose to not have sex.

if the word was “voluntary celibacy” then the entire blame gets shifted on its head. it’s your responsibility to make yourself approachable. it’s your responsibility to, well, be a lil flirty. involuntary is an excuse. that you tried and the world is just out to get you. not that the world will just accept you with open arms- and god knows women aren’t without their flaws in the same ways men are- but it takes personal responsibility to better yourself. and that’s why i think incel culture is inherently toxic to its core.

regardless i know for a fact ive seen a-many folks use incel as a word to reinforce male patriarchy and use it as a way to say “I’m the better Man”- so im in agreement there. but i just cant agree with the reaction to wholesale censor the word as MSO once did on the forums here. i think there’s a big optics issue when you say shit like “i believe in equality more than you do”- it feels more like this reactionary anti-feminist movement than a true progressive gender-equality movement, and especially with the aforementioned incel censoring
