Clowns are currently valid for changing their shoes, this policy change was introduced last term but had not be updated on the wiki. Ruling made here

I'm proposing that we revert back to the 2019 ruling on this as the circumstances for clowns have not changed and they still have access to several clown-shoeless outfits for various gimicks/endeavors. I also believe that the current ruling is difficult to enforce if enforced at all as it relies on players knowing why a clown is not wearing clown shoes as the clown is not valid is the shoes are stolen for example.

Shoeless clowns have been specifically encouraged via code changes to allow them to wear appropriate clothing for dress up shenanigans. No longer do they have a negative moodlet for being without their shoes. A clown is supposed to dress up to their hearts content, limiting that by making them valid without the shoes is rather punishing.

The current ruling was made with no policy discussion so I believe this policy thread is justified even if the ruling is the same.

it should not be legalized, but full clown outfits that include different shoes should be protected like how regular clown shoes are. Clowns that dont wear their shoes should be punched in the nose like how speaking mimes are

I asked for this policy thread cuz I wanted to revert back to the old 2019 ruling. Dress up clowns as based and I'd hate to lose them to valid culture rulings. Some of my best memories from back when I played in 2020 were are trash-tier clowns in Owl costumes pretending to be detectives while actually causing crimes instead of solving them.

Can't we just ban trash gamer clowns that take off their shoes to ???????? I dunno what advantage they can cuz they still be clumsy, useless fucks that can't shoot guns?

its done for a speedboost, since clown shoes slow you down pretty heavily

clowns should be free of this its too hard for one person to track
if a clown is removing shoes for gamer reasons theyll be already killed by the laws of nature

I like the mandated shoes but I don't care enough to fight against this very hard. I'm generally pro-creativity though so I guess this is a good thing.

If I see you taking a clown slot and changing your shoes just so you can validhunt as clown I'm going to bonk you.

Clowns that take their shoes off for an advantage suck. But also clowns should be free to change into whatever horrendously clashing autodrobe outfit they want

We're reverting last term's change to this. Shoeless clowns are not valid just for being shoeless.

Dressup clowns are awesome.

But really bad and unfunny clowns are still good for beating up as they have always been, regardless of shoe status, honk! Not having shoes may just make a clown even less funny than they already were...

We welcome the codebase to come to us if they need us to collaborate on policy to solve the shoeless clown epidemic ruining SS13.

Paraphrasing Burger over voice comms: It's better that one innocent shoeless clown survive than a hundred griefing clowns get valided.
