Admin in question: icy5
When did it take place: 9:45pm
Round ID in which ban was placed: 29010
Evidence: Talking about in dchat to respawn folks till dchat didn't want the pity respawn.
Your side of the story: I don't exactly know the procedure with the tgcm admins. That round 29010 Folks walking into tank fire were being gibbed or being flung away into caves. One of the three admins wanted to spawn marines even after they failed their tadpole operations to hive dive from the middle of the map. Now, earlier this week someone made a bad call on an OB that gibbed 4 marines and I believe, at least 8 were respawned as fresh marines cause of that bad OB call. I understand that its situational, but those are learning moments for folks, unless they are intentionally making bad calls in the way to hit marines, which would be kind of hard to prove. But as game master myself, if you benefit one side, you tend to benefit or give something or a challenge to the other to distract them?
Anyways, what is an admin supposed to do correctly on this?

As someone who was directly involved in command for the OB incident round (Synth):
A new player (PVT) got ahold of tac binos and was using the OB independently of command orders. Command was not aware of what was happening until it was too late. (Aka pretty much griefing the marines)
As a game master it is not entirely unreasonable to lighten the punishment of blatant bad faith, the gibbing was reduced to forcing a number of marines off the field for a certain time on par with regular medevacing. Which still benefits the xenos while still being fair to the victims of a blatant rule break.
Rule five precedents 10 specifically says:
"Abuse of position, as in being deliberately incompetent or malicious in their position is not allowed."
There are other rules and such that would apply but I'm lazy and the burden of proof is not on me anyways, I'm just giving context to part of the complaint.
Anyways, it is completely malicious to ignore the chain of command and drop an HE OB on the ungaball.

Hey, fellow dementia home patient (Senior Admin) here.
As far as I recall during the round with the tank, nobody was respawned, Icy5 was considering whether it was reasonable practice and talking with dead chat about it simultaneously.
It's safe to say reasonable practice is not to respawn people for anything short of dying before prep or before shutters open, where there isn't even a way to get killed by another faction. Admittedly we don't exactly have that as any formal procedure or guideline stamped down anywhere.
As for the OB, Icy5 was already told not to respawn people for in-game issues and shouldn't do it again.

Re: [COMPLAINT] [<Icy5>] Iansdoor
Well thank you mini for answering this for me, but I would also like to add that this pretty much isn't true, the op where this had happened and I had offered respawns only 3 marines were gibbed, and I had offered respawns in chat to one or two people who were quite upset that they'd been gibbed either by tank or OB multiple op's in a row, and was trying to ensure that people have a fun game since isn't that our job as Admins as a priority? And as before I don't see how preventing newish or even oldish players from having a horrible round ending experience multiple rounds in a row is a bad thing when I've personally gotten ahelps and seen people rage quit the game and never come back due to thing's like that, and I would prefer to keep the people we can.
But that being said, I have and would never offer a respawn to that many people if they died to an OB at that point it's just a skill issue and would fuck over xenos HORRIBLY. So I really don't see where your getting this from and when I had talked with the situation you mentioned with other people they had corroborated what I've said above. Also even in cases I have respawned marines in the past for situation's like this, it's only when in my pretty experienced view that said 2 or 3 marines would have little impact on the game I.E new people who are having a horrible first few experiences and aren't going to do anything useful.
But I do agree with that marines need to stop getting respawned for basic stuff and same with xeno players asking for respawns aswell.

Re: [COMPLAINT] [<Icy5>] Iansdoor
I believe the replies above have provided the necessary context of both situations, although I can't exactly confirm anything from the OB round due to having no round ID to look it up with.
About the tank gibbing, there were no respawns given indeed, and as mini mentioned, icy was already told not to respawn people for incidents like this and all admins were pinged with a reminder of our "Losing is part of the game" rule previously.
As for your question, generally respawns are given out if the admins feels as if the player had an unfair death (being deleted, flung into space, intentionally griefed, etc), as a sidenote, I agree that this would be valid for the OB incident if the information that Drag provided is true. Outside of that, it is discouraged to give out respawns unless you have a very good reason for doing so.
As mentioned, since icy and the other admins were reminded of the above and there was no malicious intent to warrant anything beyond a reminder, going to move this to resolved.
