Why should this appeal be accepted?:
I was playing as a miner doing my job when I stumbled upon Bubblegum. I fought against it the best I could but I was at very low health and so I ran away to the shuttle to get to the station towards medbay. If my memory is correct, I was dying just shortly before I got to the shuttle and I was so angry that I ragequitted out of the game. I didn't realise at the time that Bubblegum would end up destroying the mining bay, which made it look like I did this on purpose.

As you can see by the note reason, I had only a few hours on this server and this was my first time fighting against Bubblegum. I didn't mean for mining bay to be destroyed and for that I am sorry.

With that being said however, I feel like this ban was way too harsh for a newer player such as myself and I feel like I should've gotten a note instead and a warning to not do this again.

I will make sure that this will never happen again and I would like for my ban to be repealed.

Hey there, thanks for the appeal.

Been a while, I actually remember looking into this one. As a suggestion, if you make a mistake that has a high chance of an admin getting involved it might make sense to proactively adminhelp and explain what happened. In this case bubblegum made it to the station and resulted in a death (after wiping out miners on the planet it seems), and probably as a result of this exciting dead chat I became aware of it and I would have started to look into how it happened, and with you offline by that point I only had what I could read into the logs.

My memory is of spending some time reviewing your combat with bubblegum and tracing your path with "admin extended view range" across lavaland to try figure out if you were fleeing or leading bubblegum.
This plot crudely shows the path taken, the fight starts at the right side ST, the width of the image is the width of the planet for scale, and the height is cropped. each red cross is an attack logged shooting at bubblegum and it's the last 7 shots that just lead in a path towards the station ; at the time I felt if you were just fleeing then shooting it wouldn't be such a thing, ultimately this looks a lot like kiting it.

For note the grey area has no attack logging, I guess bubblegum is just stalking and covers that last stretch, the blue cross is a door that bubblegum chews on and the top red X is a shuttle location.

What I don't have access to any more is the terrain at the time, but as said my memory of following the logs at the time was this was just leading a path back towards the mining base while shooting it as you went.

There's also some odd stuff like shooting it from inside the shuttle when you returned after which probably raised questions.



Ultimately I don't think the above matters too much. I wanted to review my own work and decision making process and I can see how this might have looked dubious as a chain of attacks, coupled with the fast disconnect and I suspect we may have been having issues with low hours accounts at the time - i dont remember that specifically 6 months later but it would be enough to make me really try balance up mistake versus intention here.

And I can't, there's no real way to distinguish a genuine mistake here, just because it looks like kiting doesn't mean you deliberately set out to do that, and a mistake certainly doesn't warrent a permaban. I will note that on the end of the actual ban reason I invited you to add your perspective by appealing and linked here ; knowing myself I only really make this invitation when I think talking to the other player would make a difference. Worst case its a low hours grief, best case its just a mistake, and I figured there was a good chance you'd appeal if asked to, I just didn't think it would take this long

I think I'll offer to just remove this ban its self and replace its contents with a note instead as follows:

As a miner, brought bubblegum to the mining station where it slaughtered the miners and got onto the station resulting in at least one additional death. A series of shots were fired at bubblegum on a path towards the station that, at the time, looked like an intentional kiting and resulted in a ban which was appealed, ultimately this is indistinguishable from and very possibly an unintentional newer player mistake, however please be careful leading megafauna around in future.

Sorry I took so long to repeal. I just had stuff going on in my life and I wanted to play the server again but was surprised that I was permabanned lol. I will keep in mind to wait for a little bit after I die and adminhelp to explain the situation from now on.
