I want wood armor so botany/assistants can make some armor to go with their weapons.
Moderate brute resist at the cost of mobility (move slow) and dexterity (can't climb things) and making you very vulnerable to fire. After enough damage the armor falls apart. The durability of the wood can be connected to a plant stat like potency or health.
On that note just port blacksmithing from Goon in general, I love the idea of a dwarf cargonian crafting swords and armor for crew to fight a threat.
