Your side of the story: I was not the one who unwelded the locker, they were practically being given away, who unwelded it is unknown (I forgor) and I was flashbang chained and knocked over, while figuring out the actual, bomb and set it off accidentally Why you think you should be unbanned: Why should you get this opportunity to return, what value do you bring back to the community? Was your ban unfair? Justify it. 31 days is a BIT much, don't you think? even if the amount of days was reduced, that would be great

The note needs amending for sure, I already had 3-4 open tickets at round end and had to pick up the TTV explosion post when we should have rebooted, so since you'd logged off I rebooted and placed the ban at the start of the next round, which means that I forgot to prepend to the note that these events took place in round 217149, the prior round to the ban being placed. So as an absolute minimum I will edit that for factual correctness (like, will do that later).

Firstly I'm happy to remove the part about the closet opening, I can't actually confirm this from the logs and didn't really try to at the time, I thought I had some input suggesting you had but since I can't evidence it and you're not getting banned for unwelding the locker anyway I will remove references to that aspect.

As for the ban duration, well, you bailed from the server immediately and the standard issue is 1 day per kill so that's where we start.

What you haven't done though is give any insight into why you did this, or justification, reasoning, anything. Your appeal correctly notes the un-welding aspect but gives no insight into the part where you kill 30 people, so, before I consider reducing the sentence I want to hear about that.

Honestly not a very useful take, and I'm not sure why normalising non antags blowing up the shuttle is on your agenda. Secondly consent should be given prior, not posthumously, this isn't consent, this is just you ... i don't know what you're doing, or why. And thirdly the 1 month is just a ballpark for the consequences and actions taken so plus or minus one doesn't really factor into my decision making.

There's also other cases where people die not on the shuttle but are clearly affected such as

There's a suffocation in departures and a few other deaths in very odd places which may indicate they fell out of the emergency shuttle en route. I don't intend to tally every death, 1 month seemed about right for the consequences generally. So your opting out doesn't really change anything.

I dont think the number is necessarily 31, but its high 20s for sure, close enough to a month, so based on my insight into how this happens, which ideally the player would at some point be involved with, this can go down to 2 weeks or up to 1 month based on how malicious/intended it was.

In terms of scaling up or down bans I'm largely interested in the player's thought process at the time. As a intro example I've had a player blow up on the emergency shuttle with a health sensor when a spider ran in and killed them. I scaled this one down a little, it's still a sizable ban but the outcome likely wasn't intended, the player likely didn't think things through and the player likely wont do this again, so some leniency works here.

This situation on the other hand, we have a 500 hour player who knows exactly what a TTV is, how to detonate it, what it will do, what this will mean for everyone near by, and what this will mean under the rules, and goes ahead and does it anyway. This seems to invite the opposite of leniency to me, unless the player (who has yet to respond to my question) can explain an alternative mindset that makes any sense for these actions and consquences.

It's hard to see it as anything other than wholely intended, expecting to suck down the consequences, but perhaps not expecting such a heavy ban. So here it is, the full force of the consequences of the actions. Not so worth it hopefully.

And I still don't get why anyone would think trying to shave one day off is a good idea or why you'd want to try legitimise this behaviour or mindset. Go make a peanut, we can chat about it there.

Edit: I also didn't pick 31 days. I picked 1 month in the ban box, i figure that's anywhere from 28-31 inclusive and any of those results were fine,

This appeal appears to be lacking follow up by the appealer, and I intend to close this at some point late on Sunday (GMT) if no further input/response is forthcoming.

As it currently stands I only intend to clean up the errors and omissions in the recording, as well as updating the 'please go appeal' section, and intend to update the note to the following:

Round 217149 - As a non antagonist, took a TTV that had just been freed from a broken welded locker on the emergency shuttle and detonated it. Casualty count approx 30. Player immediately disconnnected, later filing a single post appeal at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35154 which did not result in any additional insight into the events that would steer the conclusion away from shuttle griefing.

(The hyperlink is / will be the full URL, I just can't be bothered to figure out how to escape a URL in phpBB, which I'd then have to unescape to copy paste into the ban/note editor anyway)
