i noticed my signature again and decided it's a very nice concise but thorough encapsulation of what i think i am and thought that's neat

then i thought who has the best signature and whether your signature is better than mine

i used to subscribe to the slam a bunch of quotes in spoilers method of saving the best quotes

fuck i already remembered crag has the best signature with the crag was right meme but with that in mind anyone who's copycatted that has an extremely cringe signature only crag is allowed to do that

i can't get links in signatures to work i put one that counts how many internets i have that i started using in 2009 but clicking on it doesn't actually link to the site

looking at that signature put me back in the early 2000s

terranaut's sig > Sticky's sig because it's more minimalist. I only see signatures when I'm logged out anyway but fuck huge sigs are the worst.

Still, I rate your sig more then my own Sticky, I'd say it's above average for this forum. Some choice quotes and no scroll bar. Near perfect.

While I agree that terranauts signature is punchier it loses value over multiple viewings. Such a minimal amount of content is well chosen for a single scroll but over time fades into the background too quickly.

I like my signature but that's because it's my signature.
I really wish wubli's whole quote was smaller so that it'd be a bit easier to look at quickly, but it is what it is

Scrolling signature is an F maybe i'd give it pass if you could fit the entire gravel post in the signature

I used to just do little graphic art doodles to make my own or had others to but that was another time and age.

i think spoiling scrolling sigs are fine since you pretty much read someone's signature once it ends up making a smaller sig than one without scrolling or spoilers

ive got a mental fog that automatically ignores signatures 99% of the time though i do occasionally use my adblock extension to filter out the more obnoxious images that some of them have. when i do remember they exist they are generally good for a cheap laugh. i might as well remove the feedback link from my sig because i dont think it has ever been clicked once since 2019

it's just one of the many holdovers from the olden days of forum boards, customizability usually was there for many different reasons, from showing off clan tags to having a bunch of image buttons for your various proto social media profiles

Even more so than any other platform you have basically no indication of what a person is like on a forum. The signature gives you an idea of what they like, what they find funny and how cringe they are without having to ask them

For example, if you see anyone with their OC character in their signature (other than literally just a "I am X in game") you know to avoid them or be drawn into a three hour barrp about their tragic backstory

Another way to know whether someone is cringe or not is to see if they triplepost within 3 minutes on the forum instead of just editing their first post
