Role of 'Enemy of the Revolution' Antagonist Following Revs Victory

good evening,

in a round that just took place on terry there was a revolution in which the revs won through recruiting large numbers before being detected. security, still largely alive, barricaded themselves within security. those who approached the front doors and loitered were shot at, including one player who adminhelped about it. i was then told by an administrator...

Image

however, this does not seem to be correlated with anything that i can find in the official rules, or within previous headmin rulings; though maybe i am missing something there and didn't see it.

i think this also conflicts with the objective (and antagonist role) given to security members, 'Enemy of the Revolution' which states...
The station has been overrun by revolutionaries, stay alive until the end.
it's very challenging for security during a revolution victory to determine who was and wasn't a revolutionary.

i can understand at the same time from the crew's perspective, however, that those who were not revolutionaries previously may not realize what is going on; especially those who late-join.

bit of a conundrum, and maybe it needs a code solution, but its better to resolve the ambiguity if it is a point of confusion for all involved.

best wishes,
bobbah 'bee' brown

revert to sec can now bone, its so dumb that in middle of a fight to death between sec and tiders a message appear and now they are all peace and love like nothing happened

This is what I've been told when I ahelped about it :
Jimmius wrote:you have to stay alive at any cost- I dunno if you get like, full plasmaflood permissions, but I see no way for you to determine IC who was a rev and who wasn't, so I think it's fair for you to treat everyone as a potential threat that you can take out to stay alive

I agree with Jimmius on this. You can't know who wants you dead or not, assume everyone is out to get you and shoot them. Refrain from mass destruction though.

possibly bad idea but: what if, when the revs win, all remaining sec get a "loyalist" traitor icon over their heads (that everyone can see?), an objective to survive, and become valid to/for every other person on the station who isnt a loyalist

As the person who made this feature to begin with, what Jimmius ruled was more or less the intention yeah. This exact scenario:
security, still largely alive, barricaded themselves within security. those who approached the front doors and loitered were shot
...is more or less what I had in my head with the changes. I think it creates some flavor.
possibly bad idea but: what if, when the revs win, all remaining sec get a "loyalist" traitor icon over their heads (that everyone can see?), an objective to survive, and become valid to/for every other person on the station who isnt a loyalist
Ehhhhh, given how depressingly complex the rules on post-revs has become, I might be fine with head admins wanting them to be valid to everyone, if it means that I can do my part in killing that triangle. I have no strong feelings about that one way or the other.

"Enemies of the revolution" are not full antags, but they have very reduced escalation standards in the name of staying alive. You can't go door-to-door with your full sec team and slaughter entire departments if they're clearly just trying to do their jobs, nor can you plasma flood or other major sabotage. However, stuff like holding out in the Bridge/Security and shooting anyone who comes near the doors is fine, as is shooting first if an assistant is constantly following you around the hallways.
Essentially, unless you're performing mass-sabotage or deliberately hunting down people minding their own business, it's probably valid if you can make a good-faith argument for it.
