[MRP] Space loot, and how much can we bring back.

Hey boys and girls, Legion here for the obligatory MRP space gear post.
As a general par of the MRP rules and whatnot, it’s defined that getting weapons 4 no resin is power gaming and will probably result in a boink / ban. However, with space having the odd combination of a decently varied loot table and no job that actually interacts with it, its a “grey” area.
Lets say, hypothetically, you found white ship, taking 20 minutes, then spent 30 minutes setting up a gigabeacon hub across all the z-levels and had a full sight coverage of every ruin. Would it be power gaming to bring back say, a laser gun that you got from space, killing 6-7 pirates and a few turrets to get it? How about a 40mm grenade launcher (risking instant death from simple mobs that hit harder than megafauna)? The P-01 taser? the "literally I've never seen it used before" paper wizard coat?
What sort of things in a MRP setting are “free game” to have about your person on station, if you decide to explore space and return alive, loot in hand?

Id like to think that someone who went through getting a weapon permit from cap/hos should be excluded from that rule within reason, and anyone who went explorin' should just use that route when they came back on station. Several of the space ruins have hostiles though and I doubt anyone using a weapon to clear those will ever be bwoinked.

It's a grey area as much as miners getting equivalent gear as part of their job is a grey area. Space is in some ways a separate adventure zone, where you acquire goods and haul them back to the station.

You could hand them over to security, and likely they'll be thrown into contraband by the no fun allowed warden helpful where necessary.

But both space farers and miners need be aware the antipowergaming rule is both an attempt to stop accruing unnecessary power as well as restraint from using it outside of crisis situations like blob or op attacks. Just because you have these weapons doesn't mean you should be doing security's job for them. Even then, since no job specifically is meant to go to space (although curator kinda is that job I suppose), you probably shouldn't be doing it every round back to back if you're just doing it to bring weapons into the round that are not easily acquired otherwise.

It doesn't matter what the perceived difficult of getting these items might be. It's about being reasonable about how you use your loot.

We first wish to address this, as a one off thing, this is a fun time investment with a nice reward. Beyond that it becomes routine and an optimal way to gather loot fast, thus delving into the realm of powergaming and is not acceptable.

Gathering dangerous equipment should also beg the question what it's intended use is, you should make sure to shy away from using it as your own personal armory, instead looking for RP opportunities.
Selling it off in a black market, negotiating with the captain for a promotion in exchange for adding the loot to security's armory, or handing it out to the crew to fight a xenomorph infestation.

If you are repeatedly neglecting your role to pursue space loot that is an issue, and administrative intervention may be needed.

Ultimately if you make sure it isn't a frequent thing, and you do something with it that promotes roleplay you should be fine.
