BYOND account: Timonk
Character name: Roddus Maximus
Ban type: Server ban
Ban length: 1 day
Ban reason: Died to syriniver as wizard, proceeded to make a PR to nerf syriniver before round ended. This is ick ock fueled by salt can we not have that please.

(PR for reference)
Time ban was placed: like 10 pm euro time or something
Server you were playing on when banned: Terry
Round ID in which ban was placed: 139387
Your side of the story: got wizard roll for 5 minutes then got shot with syriniver, suicided and made a PR
Why you think you should be unbanned: non issue, if it werent for admin knowledge only like 4 people knew about me as a wizard and i dont think any of the hubbies on terry know how my static looks like. as i said, non-issue

No amount of IC in OOC is acceptable, the only acceptable minimum is none at all until the round ends. Your PR was uploaded before the round was over.

Ided PRs are definitely something people can get metainfo from to use in game, it was made even more obvious when you have your ckey in your Github name & saying that Terry is full of hubbies isn't a very good reason to justify IC in OOC.
I'd say what you did is very clearly against the rules, something that normally people would just be noted for, but you've been playing here for a long ass time and have accumulated your fair share of warnings & bans. I stand by my decision to give you a day ban for this, this sort of behaviour with code changes shouldn't be allowed & I'm sure this ban will make you think twice in the future.

what meta info are they going to gain out of triangulating the wizard that died in medbay 10 minutes ago while on the shuttle by some random who had syriniver, after not knowing what the wizard looks like because they are already on the shuttle

As I said, no amount of IC in OOC is acceptable. Any attempt to justify it by saying that nothing would come from you giving away IC info OOC won't budge my opinion on this ban.

From a code POV, You are free to contribute to the game even if that feature affects you within the round you are currently playing so long as you do not use the PR, especially the title which gets announced, to reveal you are being currently affected in the round. You are also required to make PRs that accurately describe the contents of it, so timonk would have been in trouble on our end had he mislabeled his PR to """hide it""" from people he was playing with (ignoring the fact he is github ban evading).

Considering this was a new account, I dont think it would have even gone to the announcement message either. If it did, it needs to be looked at before we have another rshoe incident. Would anyone mind clarifying if this occurred?

Bans automatically leave themselves as a note so that's untrue.

It's either that I'm blind and sleep deprived or it didn't leave a note

Known issue - for whatever fucking reason, ban notes are posting with the date as 0000-00-00 (00:00:00) which hides them.

PRs and issue reports pertaining to current rounds shouldn't be posted until the round is over to avoid meta info in said PRs/issues descriptions. This is dipping a bit into coder territory so I'm sure there are exceptions like bugfixes which are so unrelated to a round that it wouldn't be a problem to make a PR/issue about it, but generally its best to wait and avoid this type of situation. I dont believe this case is one of those exceptions. The note is factual, denied.
