Because people like pap would rather complain than actually do anything so I'm making this poll to see what you guys want.

Personally I would prefer it if Lizardmen could not sign up as a Head of Staff. Not only does this force a trade off for playing as a more unique alien race, but it servers as a balance issue. Rev rounds with the heads of staff being non-human will end quickly.

My opinion: As long as we have asimov as-is playing as lizard is going to be a handicap.

And the racism config option actually protects the round by not having heads so easily killed.

All this aside, lizards are second-class citizens, not heads of staff. If lizard players are buttblasted about not being able to be in charge, maybe they shouldn't be playing as an inferior race.

United Earth Government is just trying to save you guys from the scaly plague.

Bolded the only point in this thread that should matter. Fluff can be changed and is ultimately cheap. Lellizardracism is a thing for another thread, probably in the garbage. This is an actual playstyle concern.

I agree with Ikkarrus' point mainly. Keeps the round secure and running without heads being killed so easily.


A lizard SHOULD be able to be promoted into a head role like usual if the situation permits/demands it.

It's possible to be racist towards lizards without edging into Rule 1 territory, though I guess admins will interact with rule breakers more often than not. I enjoy those smaller interactions (e.g. "What's with all the lizards in Sec? Is it because they're all thugs?"), and AI-Lizard relations are 10x more fun when they're the station's downtrodden by default.

They shouldn't be heads though from the start though. Getting yourself promoted to head as a lizard feels like a mini-achievement of its own.

I see problems with the AI. I also see problems with other command staff, given the usual demographics.
I'd say "fuck it" to that and let lizards be heads anyway, but I am under the impression that would create a lot of avoidable friction. Better to rise to power ICly, at least that way others are to blame for the comdominium.

Of course, most of these problems arise because what was stated in the post above me applies to all players, and spessmen in general.
(Except the admins, because I'm not dumb enough to imply they're shitheads. Not intent on getting banned.)

I voted to allow them to play heads out of "Meh, who cares", but you guys are seriously bringing it too far.

Rant aside, I can understand why people don't want leezard heads, but that's due to the lore or something like that, who even cares. So yeah, lizards should be space-immigrants doing the first job they can find.

Neither wanting lizards to be second class with a definite roleplaying niche nor wanting them to just be weirdo generic aliens is autistic. Both ideas have merit. One creates a definite RP niche, where as the other allows lizards to be used as generic aliens with "insert your own fluff."

Of course aliens should never just be re-skinned humans. The idea of an alien race is to do something with them you can't do normally with a human. Second class citizen works and I really like the dynamic. Creates some interesting play.
