wizard gimmicks that dont make everybody mad

So today I got wizard, it was semi lowpop and I didnt really wanna murderbone so I just got two apprentices, a spellblade and a battlemage armor. I cut off around 40 legs (literally) with my spellblade, killed an ERT and a deathsquad and took a blob out with a death squaddie's pulse rifle. I don't think that gimmick was enjoyable and caused about 10 people to suicide/ghost out of rage since I delimbed them but the community hates friendly wizards even more so what can I do that isn't murderboning?

Wizard is designed to make people mad, it's intended as the wacky free-for-all to prevent RP overdose.

RP overdose isn't a real hazard on /tg/, though.

you could sit in your ship for 45 minutes and watch as the station kills itself anyways

then go in and teleport somewhere non descript, take all your robes off, put on a assistant outfit and take a normal name then complete your objectives normally among the chaos.

no one can be mad at you if they don't know its wizard.

except for ghosts who always get wizard and know the ins and outs of the role and would be so much better than the current wizard if only they were the wizard instead

Best thing I've seen is to be an absolute fucking asshole without killing anyone. Evade, annoy, damage and be impossible to catch. Everyone will end up chasing you and killing you is extremely satisfying

fully upgrade magic missile, mostly upgrade forcewall and do what sticky says around the main hallways

get maximum flesh to stone and ask for admins to make it robeless and for you to have a lizard tongue (optional), then name yourself medusa and change your appearance to a woman with long hair 2 (very dark green or black). when you get on the station get a greysuit and radio to begin your plan; find people in the hallway and transform them, proceedingly, quickly jump around from locker to hallway to potted plant waiting for your cooldown to run out, rinse and repeat.

the statues turn back but it takes some time and if you smash the statues the people die but i dont do that, make sure to turn people in public areas so that everyone is terrorized by the sight of the captain, hos, and hop all turned into stones in the public hallways.

momentarily "ssSsssS" into your radio to alert people of your presence.

original basilman tm gimmick.

Constructs is also pretty good to be honest. Keeps people in the round at least. Skeleton army same deal.

The core issue with wizard is it's very hard to do anything fun because wizards are so dangerous they are instantly valided with full force wherever possible. I'd love to be able to monologue in a hallway with a bunch of skeleguards without having to spam magic missiles to do so.

I have actually managed to run a magic show in the bar twice without the round being completely ruined.

I mean it eventually turns into a normal wizard round as the crew will almost always ruin the show, usually to try to get valids, but thats half the fun. You get to roleplay a pissed off magician.

Throw out your spellbook and start talking to the admins. Not asking them to spawn loot for 5 players. Maybe ask for sleeping carp, a wrestling belt and blood crawl then start a dojo cult. Use your imagination, think up a gimmick before you ever get wiz (because you're never getting it, chump). Mindswap Apprentices taking over Command can be fun, not enough people use it to dedicate the full force of the station to erecting dank memes. I'd personally like to do the mindswap command thing sometime and then enact a slow-crawl into full-blown fascism, systematically murderboning the entire crew through bureaucracy and propaganda (aimed mostly at liggers).

Scrying Orb already gives you xray vision

Yeah, but when you combine Night Vision Mesons with X-ray, it gives you perfect vision.

augmented eyesight + mesons will give you perfect vision as a ling too which is pretty op.

the other day a wizard went full timestop and just stood in the brig. anytime someone would shoot at him he'd just sidestep and security was literally buckshotting each other to death while the wizard had a timestop cooldown of like half a second, he only died when there was like 15 lasers trying to shoot him.

X-ray + Night Vision of any type sees everything, but Mesons are the easiest to get because the cargo protolathe is always stocked. Medical and Security being stocked so you can jack Night Vision Sec/Med HUDs is much less common.
