Big (Suggested) Changes:
  • Porting most software functions to modular computing - making most of them portable.
    • Keeping the current single-function consoles as “legacy” consoles. Able to deconstruct and reconstruct into modular computers.
      s/*:m/*/*:m]
    • OR: requiring a circuit board to be installed for these functions.
    • Allow pAI installed on the same system to access and use these software functions
  • Making the PDA a modular computing device - but mostly only able to do what it does currently.
  • Adding new hardware options (battery/processor/storage)
  • Adding a new level of modular computing - the desktop. Like a console, but portable. Like a laptop, but requires bolting.
  • Adding a more in-depth NET system, and maybe an informations tech job. Adding servers which handle data in/out with the software.
  • Allowing more hardware modifications to be added to portable devices
    • Forensic Scanner
    • Camera
    • Voice Recorder
    • Adv. Mass Spectrometer
    • Mass Spectrometer
    • Geiger/Halogen Counter
    • Analyzer
    • T-Ray Scanner
    • Medical Scanner
    • Crew Monitoring
    • Reagent Scanner
    • Crew Pinpointer
  • Allowing players to start with a device of their choosing
Software
Most things that current consoles/PDAs can run. A comprehensive list is below, with some examples removed.

The head of staff in charge of the software is able to set a few things:
  • Free access to software based on ID
  • Ability to request for usage of software
  • Ability to review, disconnect, or ban any active connections with software
  • Messenger
  • Notekeeper
  • Crew Manifest
  • Newscaster
  • Arcade
  • ID Modifier
  • Custodial Locator
  • Set Status Display
  • Supply
  • Supply Shuttle Control
  • Supply Requests
  • Outpost Cameras
  • Supply Records
  • Delivery Bot Control
  • Engineering Department ID Modifier
  • Power Monitoring
  • Station/Atmos Alert
  • Telecommunications Monitoring
  • Medical Department ID Modifier
  • Medical Records
  • Science Department ID Modifier
  • AI Integrity Restorer
  • Robotics Control
  • Exosuit Control
  • Security Department ID Modifier
  • Security Bot Control
  • Security Records
  • Security Cameras
  • Prisoner Management

I would like to point out that we already have modular PDAs, they are the tablets! You need only add the rest of the PDA's features to the tablets. As for pAI being installed on PDAs/tablets, I agree with this. You can slot them into bots to give them control, but this is not true for the PDA! If we add pAI support to tablets, we could have pAI control of that tablet also work.

As for desktops, I do not really see the point. While Spacemen are all strongmen, it does not make sense to carry around a desktop computer in that manner. Laptops are underused already, do we really need to add another variant that also ends up the same way?

I like the idea nonetheless, and it is one that really should already have been implemented.

I'm already doing a network refactor. Just saying.
I won't be adding new programs though it's purely back end and support purposes.
For anyone looking forward to coding programs I'll be adding support for address based networking and more complex network structures.

you're doing a ton of refactors but i need to see some of them merged first :^)
