They're obnoxious. I'm playing the game on mute because of them, please revert this.

I'm not the person that made the change, but "please revert this, they're obnoxious" really doesn't help anyone at all. What about the changes are obnoxious? Is it sound quality? Just a feeling of offness? Be more specific, and we can help you and others more. He'd probably even be likelier to revert it if you have a good reason for disliking it.

A preference for the reverb is going to be added, so it will be completly optional.

It's mainly the loudness of small stuff like backpacks. If a pref for it is added then it's fine, I don't care if others want to subject their ears to this, as long as I don't have to.
edit: And some sounds reverb that sound like they shouldn't. Example, drinking from beakers shouldn't reverb around the room as loud as they do.
