Random Events Workshop
This thread is for players to post their ideas of what would be good new random events to code, and how high their probablilties should be.

Rat Swarm, bunch of rats spawn in maint and start eating exposed wires when hungry. Low probability.
Flu Season, a few crew members get infected with the flu. Low probability.
Bad Plumbing, all sinks/showers make you dirty. Would have to add a way to fix it. Low probability.
Shipping Error, when returning from centcom a bunch of extra crates filled with mundane items get shipped. Like a few blood crates, food crates, etc. Low probability.
Possession, random crew member gets possessed by a spirit and will need the chaplain to exorcise it. Makes the crew member spout gibberish and speak in tongues randomly. Low probability.
Shipping Request, centcom requests cargo ship 5-10 duplicates of some simple item. 5 gas masks, 5 toolkits, etc. Once it gets there you get some bonus credits. Low probability.
Happy Hour, the bartender's booze-o-mat gets stocked with some of the more complicated mixed drinks. Low probability.
Sentient Monkey, a random ghost takes over a monkey, able to talk etc. Low probability.
Software Upgrade, a few cameras around the station get a random upgrade (xray, tracking, motion alarm). Low probability.
Station Buyout, NT sells the station to a soda company. ClothesMate starts selling Space Cola branded clothing or something. Vending machines only sell related products. Give the AI a law to advertise products. Low probability.
PDA Burnout, a random amount of PDAs malfunction. Your ID would still be good but you'd have to get a replacement if you want a working PDA. Low probability.
Haunted, a random ghost gains the ability to spin chairs, turn lights on and off, etc. Make it so they can be seen if a picture is taken of them. Low probability.
Grow Lights, the station's lights make any nearby plants have a higher yield for a few minutes. Low probability.
Immigrants, makes any late arrivals have an accent. Low probability.
Talking Toaster, a random machine in the station gains sentience, pulls from ghosts. Cant do much other than talk. Low probability.
Rave Station, all station lights start strobing for a couple of minutes. Maybe music too. Low probability.
Database Update, makes a random category in RnD go to level 7. Low probability.
Nothing too crazy, which was the point. Just some small shit to keep the rounds quirky or add a little flavor.

Fair enough with the rat one, but doesn't the shipping error one just give you double what you ordered?

The random machine sentience should be a 50/50 on them being nice or completely evil, and they should be able to control the machine that they are.

Honkerian prince PDA message, a few people get the message, mostly just fluff, but maybe has a small chance to spawn 5k space cash from PDA?
