A while back, rosen got me pretty hooked on the protomen. They're loosely based off of the megaman series, and have a pretty nice mix. Their act I and act II albums are in a sort of 'story' told order, with one song leading to the other while telling a story. Their act II album takes place as a precursor to their act I album, and starts with a nice 'organic' sound/theme to it, and slowly progresses to rock/electronic, it is based around the original creation of the robot designs with Dr. Light and Dr. Wily being the main characters of the story, and goes into the creation of Wily city(?). Their act I album is based around protomen and megaman, and has an electronic/rock/opera theme that progressively gets harder/more intense as the album moves forward. They have a few singles from their unreleased act III that take the best of both worlds.

In addition, through this I found another like band called the megas, which are more true to the original theme and story of the megaman series. Personally I didn't like some of their older music as it feels too outdated/concept, but I'd suggest checking out their album "History Repeating: Blue." Though, they also redid their two most popular older songs to fit the theme of their newer work that turned out really well, though it still keeps that retro style (not necessarily a bad thing!) They have a fairly similar style to the protomen. I really like the megas because it feels like it adds more depth, emotion and character to the original series.
