batons are a 10 damage hit that stuns and can be followed up with 10~ more 10 damage hits, AND they can chainstun extremely reliably (the only real case where they wont is against adrenal implants/if they're low on charge (aka never)), AND each individual hit has a chance to knock down/knock out even when the baton is off.

literally the only advantage a leg sweep has over a stun baton is that it can't be disarmed (and disarm has a good chance to fail against batons anyways)

Can't be disarmed, infinite charge, no visual warning if you prep the action long beforehand which is completely feasible considering it doesn't hinder you in any way on help intent.

I guess the only downside is you need to be on not help intent to use it?

they have big red poofy glove sprites, and an officer with a baton in his backpack can already walk up to you with no visual warning prior and whip out a baton

infinite charge doesnt really mean shit since you'll basically never stun enough people for it to matter (when was the last time you ran out of charge on a stunbaton besides the endround massacre)

Also I was pretty certain weakened 2 used to be way shorter than it is now, like just slightly longer than slipping on 0 potency peels. Not sure what happened there.

that too, if you're on the run from sec it doesn't matter what they have out, you're not going to let them get into melee range in the first place

not to mention that if sec specifically has gloves, you'll know long in advance that they have them. it's not a guessing game of "does this guy have something that can stun me?" like it was with stungloves.

Years of training in a martial art but you simply cannot fight with that method without your special red gloves.....

What's the functional difference between this and a stun baton? I can see this being better due to it not being based on a battery charge AND its not as noticeable as a long thick shaft protruding from your hand. But aside from that a Stun Baton would emerge triumphant as it would be more reliable.

martial arts hurts without some form of protection for your hands.

This is ss13, everyone is squishy and beefy at the same time.

The gloves are electronic, and create an artificial form of muscle memory by shocking (very delicately) the right nerves. You don't have much training at all, that's why anyone can pick up a pair of the krav maga gloves and use them themselves.

I am very on edge about giving them as implants, because then there really won't be any way to see it coming. That, and them being stolen by antags is pretty much half the point: If they're given to only the warden or HoS, they'll be a unique and desirable item to steal, not unlike the HoS's crazy snowflake laser.

Oh, and I should mention in this thread that in my opinion these would be best suited as warden-only, but I left the other options/PRs up just for all of you guys.

Bam, they're experimental gloves that use plasma optic cables that utilize a blue space nano processor or some other SS13 bullshit like that to provide the user with special martial arts skills so long as the user is wearing them. (Hell I might actually try making up some basic sprites for that tomorrow if I'm not feeling too lazy)

Alternatively we go with the simple reason that this is a game with fucking space wizards, magic mimes, space clowns, and eldritch abominations and it don't got to explain shit.

Not sure if you guys noticed that the majority in the poll (62%) voted against all officers having it.

Plus people are already leery about STUN GLOVES 2.0, so it's probably best to start small and see how it plays out from there.

While that is shitty behavior I should note that we're in a situation where for the first time a non-HoS security official has access to a exclusive item that the HoS normally does not have access to, or at least a better variant of.

I think the HoS and the Warden should get the gloves to avoid any conflicts.

Also I should note I voted to not give this item to anyone.

Not really much of a test when the only person that has them is the monkey in the glass cage, who rarely makes direct contact with people that aren't already cuffed.

By that logic the HOS shouldn't have them either. HOS is supposed to spend most of his time directing sec and only get directly involved in crises. I think it makes sense for the warden to have them for prisoner control. What's the first thing a shithead is going to do if he gets out of cuffs, disarm spam the warden. If the warden had his baton out and the RNG gods fail him he's dead. In an ideal situation you stun then uncuff but there is always the risk of enough chaos for some shitter to get loose on his own, lag causes him to wake up while you're still uncuffing and he gets the drop on you, etc.

And not even normal prisoners, people get really salty when they get arrested when innocent and flip shit. I've had lots of occasions where someone gets brought in with no evidence and a mistake was made, but I'd say 25% of the time when I uncuff them to let them go they immediately disarm spam me and try to rob/kill me cause "LOL SEC ARRESTED ME 4NRAISON, EVEN THOUGH HE LET ME GO - SHICURITY!!!, VALID"

It's nice for the warden to have a knockdown that can't be turned back on him for dealing with the tide of autism that is the 5 or 6 players we have that only play to cause trouble every single round and then attack sec.
