bumping this dedthred because i started playing rimworld again after watching a youtuber called Rycon play it with a crazy modpack called the ultimate overhaul. Modpack was disbanded due to some kind of drama, but luckily some person forked a branch on git so i got ahold of it. Adds all kinds of crazy shit like increased complexity for all levels of crafting up to insane supertech shit like AI droids, stargates, orbital manufacturing plants and nuclear power. You can also now grind your foes into a biomass slurry for growing organs and stuff. it is fucking awesome and if people like (and Takeguru does not mind) i might jack up this thread to start my own game. Thoughts?

Not sure I will be able to re-find the link but I will zip up the mods and config file and host it later tonight. Also I need three people to start a tg game, need a name and personality for your guy/gal. Anyone else can claim a late joiner, but you will not be able to control anything about them. Alternatively if no one gives a shit I will let the thread die quietly

Somewhere off in deep space, Nanotrasen Research station 7 sat revolving around a lonely star in the astrological equivalent of assfuck nowhere. These days it was all "plasma this" and "bluespace that" so the lonely robotics testing facility was hardly relevant anymore. Then one day, the worst came to pass.

ATTENTION! DELTA ALERT LEVEL REACHED

[common]Urist Mcshitter says "Wtf it was malf?"
[common]Max Robo says "fucking brogs OP"

BOOM

Nothing left of the facility but space dust. However all hope was not yet lost. A handful of tiny escape pods flew from the expanding cloud of space debris towards a nearby planet. Diadem, it was called. NT never bothered with the little rock when geological and surface surveys determined that the primitive locals and squatting pirates would make any attempts to secure the small amount of mineral wealth cost more than it was worth. One pod in particular containing our protagonists slammed squarely into the nasty equatorial jungles of Diadem. And so our story begins.

(It turns out the combat realism guy did at one point release a patch that made it compatible with project armory, which is the main source of extra guns in the game. However it is not availible for download and i couldnt get it to work without it so we are probably going to get eaten by tribals. Oh well. Will post some pics once i have the characters made)

Professor Wizzy Shitlorde is the studious one, kicked out of countless reputable research organisations for his horrific experiments until NT picked him up.

Bokken Spessson is a literal psychotic, got in to the butchering business because he started killing animals due to hearing voices coming from them (it is in the bio, not making this shit up). Started selling the meat as a happy sideproduct. I guess NT were the only ones who would give him a job

Hans is probably the most sane of the three, and is just your average security head. What shennaniigans will ensue? stay tuned to find out

Our unlikely heroes step from the escape pod into the blinding sunlight. After the few hours of cramped ass podflight they had time to discuss their situation. It was incredibly unlikely that NT would bother sending a recovery team to the nuked station, so they would have to make their own way on the planet's surface. Wizzy claimed he would be able to design a spaceship given a few years and the right materials, but that is a long time to survive on a lawless rimworld. It also seemed that, having his priorities completely straight, Hanz managed to grab Ian before dashing on to the pod

Not to let the rotting old buildings go to waste, they decide to set up shop in them for the time being. Hanz' spaceman instincts kick in and he begins hunting the local monkies to secure a food supply. Bokken and the Doc take stock of their possession and make a crude hand saw and begin creating some wooden planks. They manage to get a shitty roof installed on one of the dilapidated structures just as night falls and it starts to pour rain. Just as they decide to pack it in for the evening and snuggle up on the dirt floor, a rabit dog attacks to doc and mauls him up a little. Bokken kills it with a swing of his mighty axe, and Hanz uses his rudimentary medbay training to patch him up and it looks like he is gonna be okay.

Next morning the professor walks out the door fully healed and gets his toe bit off by a fucking tarantula. The wildlife here has made it abundantly clear that we are not welcome. Bokken goes around and axe murders the remaining critters in the vacinity of our base and the doctor is laid up again. An annoying setback, we really need more planks cut so we can make a table to butcher all the animals we killed

Days pass. The professor manages to not piss off any more animals, mostly because they are dead. Hanz and Wizzy sow a potato field with the seeds in the emergency kit, and Bokken begins to ply his trade, butchering the creatures to get meat for jerky and hopefully some hides to make some proper beds

They agree to give the colony the same designation as the codename for the station they used to work on. It was a shithole, but it was more or less home.

The Doc claims the room with the sterile floor tiles to be his own, and starts putting up a research table. Hanz and Bokken agree to split the lower building with a wall and share it for the time being.

Some cargo pods drop nearby, containing nothing but several fresh pumpkin pies. Possibly crates from the exploded station, the Doc claims that debris from the explosion will probably periodically rain down on the planets surface for the next couple years at least.

A healer from the Orange Fly Camisa tribe comes to visit. She speaks some semblance of broken english, but all we manage to glean is that her tribe is not overly fond of us. Either way she kinda hangs around for a little while and then leaves. Bokken grills up the monkies, dogs and spiders we have been killing into delicious assorted jerky

Meriam Neil is a former joywire artist and medical doctor from the station. Her pod landed some ways away from the colony but she picked up its location from some travelling tribals. She looks pretty haggard all things considered, she is buck ass naked and has nothing but a packaged survival meal and a copper shiv. She is welcomed to the group, no one really trusted the Professor to operate on them given his history.

(She is a non fighter grill, does anyone want her?)

Holy shit. The very same night that Meriam shows up there is a streak of light and a massive explosion as something impacts the ground nearby. Turns out it was another escape pod, containing Brody the weedy psychopath teenaged janitor. Delirious from starvation and bloodloss, they lock him in the remaining room and try to heal him up

Meriam gets so worked up about being naked and sleeping in the cold that she kinda wanders around in a broken daze for a whole day. Once she comes too the rest of the crew donate some bits of clothing so she feels less naked and hopefully less pissed. The little shit of a janitor does not want to join the colony, so we have elected to keep his ass locked up until he caves and joins up. On a related note, it turns out the disturbed butcher is the most sociable of the lot. Knowing the average SS13 crewman this does not surprise me much.

Here is what our little colony looks like as of now. working on getting actual beds for the rest of the crew, but it looks like the first potato crop is nearly ready. The Professor has begun researching crafting stuff, and we will hopefully soon be able to refine our ores into bars and get some rudimentary power going. As gross as nutrient paste is it is a lot more food efficient than making simple salads and jerky, so that is probably going to be a priority as well. As a bonus i highlighted Bokken's illustrious past so you can all see it

The next morning a sad and weedy battle cry is heard from the south. The professor and Hanz are having a heated debate about the ethics of killing an essentially defenceless sixteen year old kid (guess who was on the pro murder side) when they both noticed that Bokken and his huge fukken axe were missing. twenty minutes later he re-apeared sporting a few bruises and carrying the kid's effects. No one asked any questions, but the garbage hand culverin was given to Meriam and she was tasked with some hunting duty. Maybe in time she can learn to shoot

Progress marches onward. The Professor researches us some basic tech to cut stone and smelt ore, and we get to work cutting blocks for a smelting furnace. Bokken manages to convince the janitor kid to stick around and we get another laborer. Meriam bags a boar with the shitty hand culverin and a few real beds are made. It is starting to look a little more homey, and we should soon have a few modern conveniences to make living here a bit less shitty

Damn, things are starting to heat up. One evening a megaslug goes mad and becomes a bloodthirsty manhunter. It is still a slug though, and therefore slow as fuck, so i decide Hanz can deal with it in the morning. However right around dawn a trio of thugs from a nearby medevil kingdom called Castle Fortescue come to sack the colony! I guess the natives were not quite as primitive as we thought!

An alarm is sounded and our colonists are roused from their slumber. Lacking any real fortifications, our brave heroes take cover behind some nearby boulders. Two of them are wielding wooden axes and the third has a steel knife, no armor between them. Lucky for us our foes underestimate our strength.

The one with the knife is heading the bunch, and sprints towards the line. We have 3 firearms, Bokken with his mighty axe and the janitor kid with a piece of garbage copper shiv. Our forces open fire, and he goes down in the first volley following a nice headshot from Hanz. The second one gets close to the line, but takes a few bullets in the process. Bokken fells him with a single strike. Seeing his comrades killed in the face of our superior technoogy, the third assailant tries to run and is cut down in a hail of bullets. We have won our first real victory!

We claim their meagre belongings as our own. Pants are at a premium in the colony right now, and there is also a dope ass tricorn hat

A few more weeks go by and bring us to the end of April. Things are rolling pretty smoothly along, and we now have a friggin windmill built! Once we get some batteries and other stuff we will be able to build a freezer, as well as installing some Air Conditioning for the coming brutal summer time

I think we can eventually make you an axe from plasteel or Uranium that will be much more powerful, not sure about higher tier weapons but i will keep my eye out. In the meantime i am probably going to rely mainly on ranged and have Bokken slap down anyone who gets to close.

Our powernet is nearly set up, we are still cutting down all the asshole trees blocking our glorious sustainable wind power. Some random guys from a more advanced outlander town came to visit and one got mauled to death by a boar in the jungle. We have laid dibs on his UMP45, which the doctor has claimed and passed his pistol off to Meriam

An elephant sized bruiserhog, genetically modified cousin of the hedgehog, wanders too close to the colony. We stack up all our troops and manage to dump enough bullets into the monstrosity to take it down before it gets too close to hurt anyone, securing a pretty big pile of meat. We also now have some potato salad as well, our first few crop yeilds have come in. Thanks to this place being a hellish jungle it is generally warm enough to grow crops year round

We have done it! We now have a functioning freezer next to the food prep and dining area, as well as batteries placed all over the settlement to store our spare energy when asshole traders decide to pitch their tent right in front of the goddamn windmill. The Doc starts researching glassware, and the rest of the team works on some menial hauling and cleaning to get it out of the way. We also decide to crack open the other nearby sealed structures to see if they contain anything worthwhile

Holy shit these fukken bugs. A patrol of colonial marine types comes to visit the colony. I guess their battalion got stranded here as well. The three of them decide that while they are here they should make use of our state of the art air conditioned room. Unfortunately they can not seem to hack the sub zero temperatures. One of them goes insane from the cold and attacks the other two, getting his bitch ass killed in the process. We now have some marine armor and a desert eagle handgun. Oh well, free shit amirite?

Summer has officially begun and it is getting fucking HOT. Ducting and groundwork for bedroom cooling units is laid down. We also have researched glassworks and will soon have powered crafting stations, so an indoor crafting area is built as well. It seems another marine dropped dead in the jungle, this time leaving us an M4A1 assault rifle, which Hanz nabs. Man these guys are regular loot pinatas.

Once proper cooling is done we are going to try and revamp people's bedrooms with some proper lights and flooring, and maybe research some turrets or something.

What do we want to do for defence? We could go full medeival town and just build a fuck off huge wall and fortify the access points. We could also make our entire settlement one indoor compound and just defend a few entrances, what do you think?

Luckily she was not in it at the time. One of em had a pistol, the other a quarterstaff. Bokken, Hanz and Meriam were nearby and ran in to face the assailants. Bokken cleaved the quarterstaff guy into a few choice cuts while Hanz tried out his new rifle. Meriam even landed a few shots, she is at skill 3 now from the hunting practice. Bokken got a few bruises, and Hanz took a minor gunshot on his new armor vest but everyone is gonna be more or less okay. These pirates have learned the price of fucking with us

Weird fucking day following the pirate raid. A lone visitor from one tribe and a few dudes from another tribe, both loitering in the items stockpile room. Apparently their two tribes are at war because the three guys beat the shit out of the lone guy and go to kidnap him. Next thing i know they all get mauled to death by a rabid tarantula, with the exception of one. Fucking tribals man, i wish they would just leave us alone

It turns out the couple of assault rifles we looted of dead marines were more than adequate to deal with the threat. Hanz and the Professor mowed them down with ease, the only injury was Bokken catching a stray bullet, but nothing serious. These guys will give us a nice infusion of meat

The professor had just researched a new set of manned turret blueprints and was about to work on solar power when he came down with the flu. Meriam is a pretty good doctor so he will probably be fine, but this is gonna slow research down a little bit.

We also have finally completed our bedroom cooling units, which means no more sleeping in the stifling jungle heat. Next step is to make a couple sandbag bunkers for when the bandits come to call next

Not only are they huge and delicious, their horns are super rare and will sell for close to two thousand silver to the right buyer. The colony immediately plans out the best way to kill the beast. They are pretty dangerous, but we are also heavily armed. What could possibly go wrong?

Our troops all line up at dawn, even the sick Dr Shitlorde gets out of bed for the battle. They fire a volly of full auto .223 at the beast, plus a few deagle and enfeild rounds. This only pisses the creature off, and it charges our line bowling over the poor janitor kid and mauling the shit out of him. Bokken jumps in and starts swinging his axe as Hanz, Meriam and the professor keep shooting. The creature bites of one of Bokken's toes and gores him a few times with his horn, but finally succumbs to its greivous injuries and collapses. Everyone limps to bed while Hanz finishes the noble beast off. The hunt is concluded, and no one died! Truly a glorious day
