It's not elitist.

First it starts as a regular PR. It's rejected after most people are opposed to it. Then it gets reactivated as an "admin-only" thing. Then an "unfortunate bug" not only causes the whole "admin-only" restriction to be null and void, it also puts cat ears on your character after every round and you have to get rid of them manually. So a change that nobody wanted somehow ended up in the game and is actually enforced against the wishes of the majority of players. As sneaky as USA politics and their "freedom" and "patriot" acts.
also lmao i'm sorry but if you seriously think there was some grand conspiracy to intentionally turn the whole playerbase into yiffy catbois then you need to flip your tinfoil hat's brainwave modulator off the 'stupid' setting.

(Well you're completely right which is why I had Ricotez make the cat options unavailable, but christ people act like its the end of the world)

I think the reason why people are being very vocal and somewhat aggressive is that its not uncommon for these kind of issues to drag along and never be resolved until the next crisis that involves it.
Being loud tends to get people's attention far easier than being polite.

No it doesn't. It's the internet. You don't have to shout over people. That's just a meme excuse put up by people who want to justify acting like a shit. I had to block someone from github because he spammed the PR comments with vulgarities and images of decapitated human heads. HAHA YEAH YOU'RE RIGHT HE JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE HIS VOICE WAS HEARD

Your just proving my point that its easier to act and communicate in a aggressive manner than otherwise.

OR you're interpreting aggression where there was none directed to you so you can be snooty and take the high ground and 'prove' your point. Me using caps is apparently as aggressive as posting decapitated heads and death threats!

Intent translates poorly across the internet, irrespective I've said this before in similar circumstances but we have a history of pushing through changes that more people don't want than those that do. Hence why people can be aggressive in these very circumstances.

He didn't say that, but yes, your last two posts in this thread are extremely agressive. They just don't go up to "Fuck That Guy(tm)"-level like whatever-the-fuck-his-name-was who posted the ISIS atrocities. Agression is a sliding scale, not 'Zenlikecalm -> War Criminal'

Of course I don't give in to death threats and other underhanded tactics like that, but that doesn't mean I enjoy receiving them. That also wasn't the problem, it was an isolated incident from someone who is pretty infamous among the administration for being an irredeemable twat, and I reported them to Github who suspended their account. It wasn't a great experience but it's not something that keeps me awake at night.
I tried to listen to the majority vote, and because it's impossible for me to magically know the opinions of everyone in the community, I used the PR to gauge that vote.
I have explained this time and time again. I feel like I'm screaming at a wall.
It's why I originally closed the PR and then opened it again. It's also why, in the end, we went with a config option that would be set to off by default. We didn't want to lose the code but the change was just too controversial to allow at round start.
Now it's something admins are only supposed to use as a joke or for special events, that is why I keep saying I think cat people should be valid. But the admins should listen to the community to decide upon a policy.

This sounds like borderline bigotry to me, but perhaps you can better elaborate by telling me why I might be a
kind of player you don't want on /tg/station?

I personally agree with the others in that cat ears are really terribly uncreative, and it only gets worse if people actually do go "nyah~".
Granted, lizard people are also terribly generic, and I accept that even though I did lots of sprites for em. I'd just as happily go for something significantly less human or humanoid as an alien, but there's real technical limitations there that likely won't receive support.
I also think that the basically completely negative response from everyone in this thread, even coming from those who began neutral and gave it the benefit of the doubt, speaks volumes of how little support there is for this.
If you want some custom human features like lizards have, then scars, jewlery(?), and tattoos will make a lot more sense and be much less intrusive.

Speaking of catpeople, it turns out Bothans are furry mutants, albeit a bit more lion-ish.
Maybe it's not as un sci-fi as I thought, though I'd still rather have Mon Calamari on the station.
