Then it's working perfectly. You should be scrutinizing everyone. I'm part of everyone.

If bluespace cannot nominate themselves then I am submitting a nomination for them. I think the server would benefit from a headmin who is not currently part of the administrative club and has not formed any sort of personal relationships with the majority of them.

Funny, my main hesitation for wanting to be a headmin is the fact that none of the admins will give a shit if a headmin without a shitload of experience tries to berate them for doing something stupid.

Please see the second post of the thread. SoS gave Bluespace the OK, he still needs to make his thread though.

Well In that case I nominate staub instead. I think all admins should consider running.

Depending on how the votes are counted, though, having too many similar candidates could split the vote between them and end up with someone very different getting voted in. People who think they don't have a serious shot and would prefer another candidate should probably endorse that candidate and say "If you'd vote for me, vote for this guy instead."

I'm hoping we'd have runoff votes until we got someone with at least majority vote.

Alternative Vote would work. It's way better just more complicated than FPTP

Is it possible to have an in-game poll use instant runoff preferential voting to spare everyone the hassle of showing up for each vote?

I would try my hand in adminning, but I remember how I prefer more relaxed roles, like back at Pinku. So I will decline.

Updated the list. I'll chat with scaredy about doing a possible ranked ballot or run off election. I'm thinking it's most likely we'll hold the vote and eliminate anyone with less than a certain percentage of the vote, then hold a second vote with the remaining top contenders.

I also edited the original post to clarify that the players will be voting and deciding on their headmin choice prior to the coders and admins. I've also edited it to clarify where discussion should happen.

It'll be a serious flop. Like, that's really sad. No serious chance.

OK so this is getting a lot weirder than I thought it would.

In a few days I'll have all the candidates type up a short paragraph summarizing their platform for ease of use by players who perhaps don't want to sift through each thread.

Mine will, of course, be read by Tyrone. Hopefully that's acceptable.

Once this election is all finished and everything can you write up something about what you learnt about managing this it would be helpful for the next time so we dont forget those lessons.

Otherwise from that I like how we are going for a election I just hope that the candidates themselves will have a sub head admin which will take over if they go missing. They should only state who this is after the election though.

Remember, the position we are electing here is head administrator, not head coder. Coderbus is a separate entity from the administration. Unless your name is SoS, they doesn't give two shits about what position you hold.

Headmins can't "make" coderbus do anything.
