10 fucking animatronics. 10. Also more story. Sometimes if the old animatronics kill you, instead of the death picture, you go into a 80's looking sprite game where a voice slowly says SAVE THEM and you play as freddy

Played the first day, still lost.
Interesting twist in the mechanics. You have a flashlight which is only drained when you use a light, all cameras have a inbuilt light you can activate to better see a room and spot the robots. You have to not only watch out for the normal robots but keep a jukebox wound up in a certain room to keep another robot pacified. I ended up getting attacked by the chicken but wearing the mask kept her away, but I then got jumped by some black/white looking new robot, possible because I missed winding up the jukebox.

Golden Freddy in the first game is essentially a wild card enemy who only appears under very specific circumstances. If you know how he appears its really easy to avoid triggering him and even if you do trigger him all you have to do is quickly bring up your security camera monitor to ward him off.

Has something to do with seeing a GF poster, right?
I didn't know you could get rid of it so easily. Damn it.

the marionette doll seriously revokes any need for the cameras at all. he is a blight on a good game.

Not just the marionette. Cameras appear pretty pointless entirely. Just the flashlight and the vent lights seem useful
Sad, because there's a lot more cams and rooms

The biggest problem with FNAF 1 and 2 is that you only have to concentrate on watching a single room. In the first game it was watching Foxy while in the second its winding up the music box for the Puppet. All the other camera's are not really necessary to watch.

2 actually changed things so that you are both able to use the cameras to slow things down more proactively with their flashlights and don't waste power using the cameras.
If you guessed "The bronies", then you've already lost so much faith in humanity that this won't hurt any more.

What's this talk about 5N@F2 being a prequel? How does that explain the old broken down animatronics?

look at the paycheck date
then look at the wage
that's the minimum wage of around the 80's in an average USA state
during the 90's to 1996 the minimum wage got raised to around $4.25 an hour

not the god damn Prequel/Sequel debate...
Kraso's got it locked down tight, it's a Prequel.
and all the "but the phone guy talks about the first game!" No, no he doesn't, he's talking about Fredbear's diner, where the original Freddy and bonnie and chica come from, a 3rd location separate to both games.

So theres an even worse Freddy Fazbears?
Which also means that if it is a prequel, they used the oldermodels instead of the newer ones for the first game.
MEANING
Mangle is even worse looking, and so is Balloon Boy and the Jack

It's not a prequel you retard. All the animatronics from the first game are worn down more than they were in the first game, it's literally referred to as a re-opening, and the only evidence that it's a prequel is phone guy makes calls and the check says 87, which could easily be a haunting and a joke, respectively.
That being said, the games aren't really that fun.

It is confirmed that the second game takes place in 1987 and the ending scene teases the first game.
Furthermore the dates on the checks show this is the days of the same month you are working. Only this one takes place in 1987 and the first one takes place in "XX." Meaning either the second one comes after 87 so that the bite could happen, or they are taking place at the same time.

The change in minimum wage matches up to the cash you earn. Phone guy is still alive, and the animatronics were explicitly not allowed to walk around during the day due to it being known they were dangerous in 1 while in 2 they clearly were not restrained during the day.
Also the developer fucking said it was a prequel and it isn't ambiguous at all if you actually play the game, because throughout the play-through events are referenced as happening right now that are referenced as having happened in the past in 1. Phone guy even goes on the night shift in the end ready to die in 2.

Just to put a lid on it, the developer has not yet actually stated if this is either a prequel or sequel. All those twitter/twitch posts were from people impersonating him and he even made a steam announcement warning people about that.

Good to know.
It still is kinda impossible for it to be a sequel just because the timeline doesn't work simply because of some major events going on in 2.
Spoiler:
Specifically the children who you hear were murdered years ago in 1 are murdered during the course of the game in 2. It is also implied that one of the reasons you are taken off the night shift is to guard the animatronics due to the bite occurring the day of your shift. They then specifically mention moving to a smaller shittier location with less budget and less animatronics
Unless it is a time-travel plot it doesn't really work. Either 2 is before 1 or there is some weird quantum flux that is reversing cause and effect.

Spoiler:
During the events of FNAF2, somebody uses the Golden Freddy suit to lure children into the back and murder them. This causes the animatronics to go completely apeshit, leading into the event that occurs the day after Night 6, otherwise known as the Bite of '87 as mentioned by Phone Guy in Night 1 of FNAF. That's the reason Phone Guy is present in the second, because he was caught by Freddy in between the two games while he was recording the messages for Mike Schmidt after Phone Guy swapped to night shift after Night 6 of FNAF2. After the Bite of '87, the newer animatronics were dismantled, leaving only Foxy, Bonnie, Chica and Freddy which were fixed up enough to be presentable. The reason it was a re-opening is stated in Night 4 of FNAF2, where Phone Guy mentions that it used to be a business years ago called Fredbear's Family Diner. FNAF2 is the story of how the animatronics in the first game became haunted in the first place, with the murder of the children and presumed stuffing of their bodies into the suits which would also explain why they were mentioned to be leaking blood and mucus in the first game, but nothing of it was mentioned in the second.

There's a 3rd location, Fredbear's. all the links to the first game imply that Bonnie, Freddy and Chica and foxy all come from the first game's location, they don't, they come from Fredbear's.
And the re-opening is the rebranding of Fredbear's by Fazbear entertainment as "Freddy Fazbear's pizza" Fazbear entertainment made all the "Toy" versions of the animatronics, with the originals being from Fredbear's.

It was very cleverly set up to lead you to believe that the game is a sequel, but if you pay attention there is no direct evidence that the old animatronics come from the first game's location.
In fact, the newspaper article you see after Night 6 explains that, while the new animatronics were scrapped, the company decided to hold onto the old animatronics and see if they could restart their business on a smaller scale. Then there's also the matter of your check being dated 1987, the year of the "Bite of 87", and heavy implications that that bite takes place during FNaF2. Not to mention the murders taking place.
It also explains why Phone Guy is still alive in the second game; in the phone call of Night 6 he explains to you that he will take the night shift after you. Phone Guy was the night guard after the player in FNaF2 and before the player in FNaF1.
In the end, the animatronics were shitty from the start. But the murders drove them completely insane.

The death minigames implies that they lost it because they couldn't save the kids and stuffing someone into a suit is their idea of "giving life" to someone.
