The logic of hiding hiding our map from ghosts other than Observing/Orbit has nothing to do with hiding secrets of that type, because goon adventure mode is a gigantic puzzlefuck and lavaland is not.
What we have is a massive PVE maze, with rng spawns for pvp. Except the ghosts that make up the pvp element are fucking allowed to cheat and fully do so to get all the cool shit ASAP if they at all can, then cheat/meta they way towards the station to be the biggest asshole they possibly can. It has to do with keeping shit from being exploited because of the randomly spawned locations and loot, that sometimes happens right outside a doorstep.

I just feel like ashwalkers should get the chance to know where Lava is.

Since goliath steak is pretty essential to survival (It has healing chems doesnt it?)

A fix for that would simply to place a few lava tiles in the pre-built area of the Ashwalker map so they have a guaranteed source.

I also agree with restricting ghost movement in Lavaland, outside of orbiting spawn points and other PLAYERS in lavaland.

Remove ash walkers and make it so that the shuttle wont leave with lavaland mobs on it, ash drake showed up and wrecked most of the crew when a non-antag let one onto the shuttle trying to escape it.

Even the ERT that showed up lost most of its members.

Can we have a button to enable free roaming but you're locked out of lavaland roles? Something that says "Warning, if you click yes you won't be able to play a lavaland mob for the duration of the round". I enjoy observing lavaland shenanigans and it seems unfair to me to punish all ghosts for such a small issue.

It wouldn't make a difference since the mining dock is always in the same location.
It's far easier to get sick loot with miner gear which makes exploration much safer anyway, said miners know where loot is anyway.

Orbit gets past the restriction anyway making it pointless for keeping ashers from knowing about what they really want, bodies. Also forces admins to orbit hampering administration.

Lizards and golems can gain knowledge then die then use that metaknowledge when they respawn anyway.

Average lavaland mobs can be run away from or not triggered on foot and move constantly so scouting them is sorta pointless too.

If the nerf actually goes through I have other suggestions, make it so that suicides and roundstart observers get a flag that prevents them from playing any ghost role, and add a button that allows admins to toggle ghost role permission for a single ghost, so if an admin catches you suiciding in a different way (eg. spacing) or metagaming he can just press it and you're locked out of ghost roles for the round

Why? Because players can't choose to do something they consider more interesting, and you'll forcefully forbid them?

Some of the lavaland ghost roles need to not spawn near the mining station

Too many times ash walkers or fucking prisoners are a short jog away and they'll sprint at you as soon as the initial storm is over

Ash walkers get fucked but prisoners and their .45s stand a good chance of fucking you

It wouldn't have been much of a problem but the event that made me post this was one guy burning 6 of the prisoner sleepers to kill the two miners, when you could actually see the prisoner ship when you walked out of the outpost

Feedback on the NT mining bot being allowed to be controlled by ghost: Give it a damned flash light, and for that matter an option to dispense the ore that it collects. I played it yesterday and it was a nightmare, because the miner I was with buggered off into the darkness dual wielding those mining guns then came back and complained when I didn't follow him and pick up the ore. I couldn't see making it pointless.

I am gonna remove the guns from the prisoner spawn.

Maybe add a time of death cooldown between using the sleepers so one guy cant respawn forever.

Will try pushing spawns back as well but that would require more work.

The guns are okay, as prisoner you need something to defend yourself against the local fauna.

Harsh timers on sleepers are more like it. I'm guilty of abusing that myself and it's always made me wonder why no one objected.

On that, what also pisses me off are people who - apparently this is possible? - raid the prisoner ship and pre-emptively destroy the sleepers. It's like valids, except against people who might maybe potentially be valid if they took the chance to spawn.

Well, I saw a bunch of nondescript prisoners lying around catatonic+dead in their sleepers and the sleepers' descriptions reading they'd been destroyed.

So how about a non tribal way to make lavaboats? Or another option.


1 Goliath Hide + 5 Reinforced Metal = NT Lava Boat


As of right now it can be annoyingly difficult to get enough plates to make a boat.

Or boats purchable using your mining voucher or using points from the mining vendor.

Not really feedback on the content of lavaland, but the "X is forcing you to leave, go to lavaland" event is really really overdone. Lavaland is cool though. Just the whole "move to lavaland" event kinda burns you out on it.

Please remove the invisible teleport beacon on the golem shuttle. I'm sick and tired of fucking everybody coming to my safe space. If golems are visited, it should be either by miners, or because golems themselves created a bluespace beacon.

Ghost Roles:

Way for ash lizards to build new structures. Ideally all mobs would just get inbuilt construction permits or something, if that's even possible.

I want to finish lavaland russians eventually.

I want to do a shuttle crash or outpost where one person is a traitor tasked with stopping the others. A tiny classic ss13.


The map (this is most important)

-Mushrooms: Cheridan's idea/ausops has mushroom sprites already. These will be like nethack potions. The mushrooms will be randomized per round, but each mushroom will have the same effect as the other types.

Ideally it'd be a pool of ~20 chemicals for these 5 mushrooms, and each chem has some different reaction with water/plasma/blood so you can run tests on them (though some different chems will have the same reaction to plasma, so you can't be exactly sure until you consume it).

-Maybe dead trees but that'd need sprites

-Needs better generation. Remie has the map generator coded but I don't know how to use it. Just tunnels is boring.

-Cannabilize WJ's map to let it function/still be largely randomized.

I'm fine with not being able to scout as ghost, but in that event it'd be nice to have some other kind of hint as to the direction+presence of Nearby Interesting Things- especially as lavaland spawns have such reduced capacity for exploration.
