It's a weird setting. Sometimes I've had it fix every issue I'm having with a game and other times it does nothing.

I think you have more important things to do than fix your graphics card lol
Don't you think so, Crag?

I'd rather spend my time doing something I can feasibly accomplish than waste it trying to do something that I can't do on my own when my roommates are sitting around gaping like catfish and burning themselves with their cigarettes to get out of helping me carry shit.

what kind of card do you have exactly and what OS do you have? i am trying to google helpful things for you

some other problems you could be having:

i had something similar where computer would shut off at random, it was the power supply. the fan broke and would rattle, and eventually it would overheat and shut off. next time your computer randomly shuts off feel the side of the PSU and check if it's super hot. even if it isn't it still might be a PSU problem, supposedly some no-name brands just aren't stable enough to run some graphics cards.

never had it happen to me but supposedly it could be a problem with your motherboard or your OS? not likely but if all else fails might be worth checking out

did a little bit of googling and it could just be bad drivers. go to here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and download the correct drivers for you. when you install them do a custom install since it will delete the old drivers first, then make sure you do a clean install of the new ones. maybe that will help, maybe it won't do anything, probably worth trying.

hope you can get it working man :|

switch the socket you're plugged into the wall at home, maybe your socket is not giving enough current to your PSU for it to supply all the rails

iirc power needed from your PSU fluctuates depending on how many tasks that things like your graphics card are doing but dont take my word for it because i am mostly computer illiterate beyond googling things

Who knows cars?

When I rev my engine in neutral then let off the gas my exhaust makes a sound like a tin can rattling with dried peas inside it.

Do you think theres a hole in the exhaust or just loose mounting nuts?

probably just loose, or an internal separation in the backbox or something. Have had that happen to me before. When it happened to me it kinda stopped when the engine had been running for a while as everything heated up and expanded so it was snug again.

I couldn't hold any fluids down without vomiting for over a day. Combine that with shitting out pure liquid all day and a 104 degrees temp and you have painful high fever/dehydration combo.

The good thing about Java is that it runs in a Virtual Machine Environment, this means you can code the thing you want without having to worry about if it'll run on other platforms.
The bad thing about Java is that it runs in a VME, this means it runs like dog shit and you have to worry about what security features the host platform limits Java by.

Then consider that every office runs on windows (except for dirty smelly art studios that will only ever use macs and will only ever use them for adobe anyway...) then you might as well focus on c++ or c#.net

Is anyone else having issues with Google Chrome? HTML is getting broken in places, like some images on this site but imageboards have it especially bad. They look like a partially loaded HTML page.
Firefox is running fine but I'd rather not switch browsers yet since it'd be a pain in the ass to switch browsers again.

My version is 52.0.2743.116, same as yours, but I'm getting a lot of broken image links. I just went on 4chan (not the home page, that's loading correctly oddly enough) and this is what it looks like to me:-
Spoiler:

It looks like it's partially loaded. I'm only getting it for chrome too, other browsers work fine.

C and C++ have some pretty fucking stupid decisions too. Such as relying on the user to do garbage collection, or no safeguards against buffer overflows. There are ways to force a compiler to check for those risks while compiling but they always involve adding extra shit instead of just having it be inherent.

CosmicScientist wrote:Is it only the OS that languages like C++ and sharp have to compile down to?
by sharp I assume you mean C#
if so no, it doesn't compile to machine code, it compiles down to CLI, Common Language Infrastructure, a multi-platform intermediate language that things like C#, VB.NET etc. compile to.
CLI itself obviously goes down to machine code, but again C# goes via CLI first.

C#/VB.NET/etc. -> CLI + CLR (Common Language Runtime) -> Machine code.
