Dark Souls 3 is a better game.

I had a better experience playing Dark Souls 1 because it was a new setting and all new stuff (well mostly new for Demon Souls vets). Dark Souls 1 was a sort of watershed moment for the gaming industry and you can see all the influence it has had on other games.

...but Dark Souls 3 is a better game. Better mechanics, better controls, better graphics, better storytelling, better multiplayer, technically better overall (in terms of things like load-times, glitches, crashes)...

Alright so I finally wanna finish Dark Souls 1 so I can convince myself I have a reason to play 3 at some point in the future. But I'm a bit tired of swinging around the Zweihander all the time. For all its power the timing on it is quite hard to get right.

I want to try a lancer build, using polearms. How feasible is this in Dark Souls 1? It doesn't have to really be suitable for PvP, that's pretty dead in DaS1 anyway.

I had a lot of fun with the club for 75% of dark souls 1 until I got a demon axe.

Everything is usable in PvE, polearms are pretty good for people who don't wanna be assed to learn every enemy attack cuz you can just outrange a lot of stuff.

i killed a guy using nothing but my +5 notched whip and some carthus rouge

yeah bleed is great. With the greatshield nerf/shield piercing buff Estoc is Bestocer than ever, though.

Kinda late to the ds1 discussion party but for pole arms the halberd is fucking awesome and you get it early on. Winged spear and pike are both okay but the halberd has a very versatile poke and slash moveset

I always used an enchanted falchion in ds1 myself, cause dem' 400+ regular attacks on a quick weapon were op

that reminds me i need to pick this up and actually finish it. It's a great game don't get me wrong, but the frustration and difficulty factor left me needed to back off for a bit sometimes.

Champion Gundyr was one of my favorite bosses honestly.

Nameless King was harder, but he was hard for a lot of the wrong reasons, the camera first among them.

on the other hand, i keep making saves and then abandoning them before i finish the game, i've made over 20 characters and finished once
