Norsca's out for Total War, they're fun but make sure to keep your lord's close to your marauders, or keep only a minimum amount of them if you're playing Throgg since he's focused on buffing monsters anyways. The marauder hunters w/javelins are powerful but have pitiful range, still nice to have around in most armies to focus down big monsters/attack fliers.

Just finished Pyre

Liked it better than Bastian and Transistor! Loved the characters, the world-building, the gameplay was intense, and the music was expectedly awesome. I appreciated how free-form the ending was, too.

Also I keep on getting these crushes on giant muscle women from vidya like Jodariel

I've been playing Distrust. Self-described as being inspired by John Carpenter's The Thing, 1982 version.

You play as the rescue team sent to a polar arctic base after it's gone dark but on the way, your helicopter gets downed and only a few of you survive (depending on gamemode it's either two or three). Your goal is to make your way through the base, battling the conditions in an effort to find out what went wrong and managing your warmth, satiety and stamina - although, not everything is all as it seems...

I don't know how much it takes after The Thing and I'm only an hour into the game and haven't seen anything shapeshifter-y but I can confirm there are enemies but so far these are the mindless types. They appear to be attracted to your explorers and have different weaknesses though so far all of them appear repelled by heat, don't know if that will change.

Oh and, don't go to sleep for too long now...

At the end of the day you're better off just pinging them or wait for them to shoot first and launch on bearing

Bearing snapshot only works when the enemy is near you.

Clockcult has been defeated and I've leaked the first contact ERP logs that not-NASA were keeping for themselves.

Hopefully it'll lead to lizzers, but given that not-XCOM exists it'll probably lead to sneks.

Started a run of original halflife since reading theories and stuff about the leaked episode 3 story put me in the mood for it, then ran into a bug on Power Up that prevented progress without cheating and just didn't want to do it and quit

I've come across a game I played waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in ~2008 again that recently got an update after 7 years of silence. It's Iji and it's still freeware after all this time. Dunno what the update adds but it brought back a wave of nostalgia for me. It was about playing as a regular person caught up in an alien invasion and implanted with experimental nanotechnology to help fight back against the aliens. That being said, you don't *have* to kill anyone and you can beat the whole game without killing anyone, but despite that, things get worse...

even tho the ending was complete dookie because it wasnt actually finished it still had the best gameplay of any MGS game.

Also you really need to take the DF noble approach to your workers. Wall them off and kill them when they get too needy. They're disposable by design

The second half didn't "ruin" the game, per-se, but it certainly would've been a far more complete-feeling product if they just kept the game to the first chapter or whatever they called it. The integrated multiplayer bullshit is something that I had far more objection to though, despite it never being an issue to me. Just the idea of that part potentially affecting my singleplayer experience is enough.

yeah that's a valid criticism and it's not like the story's issues aren't issues at all

i have one friend who adamantly insists that the entire game was ruined by the story, including everything he did before, because apparently the story taking a dive means the hours of fun you had previously are posthumously turned into a boring slog that was a waste of time etc. etc.

this has never happened to me, at all

not once has a game's shit ending (see: ME3, MGS5) or a game becoming a slog later on made me feel as if the fun I previously had was no longer fun

it took me like a year and a half to get over it enough to watch the trailers again

qbopper you have to understand that MGSV was supposed to be /the/ mgs game, the huge epic conclusion to the whole series that tied everything together. the big bang. the grand finale.

what we got was a mediocre, half-finished story that made little reference to the rest of the series on top of a game that suffered more than it gained for being open world, with a lot of unimplemented or poorly conceived ideas
its an okay game, maybe even a pretty enjoyable one, but it's riddled with flaws even from a gameplay level and the fact that the story is a barebones unfinished disaster feels like such an enormous fuck you
