basil off the hub

Bottom post of the previous page:

why?

seems like it's killing the playerbase count on basil and will probably kill that server if it keeps up.

For example today at midday i checked and usually sybil/basil are around the same count, but sybil had ~70 players and basil had ~35

I'd put tg on my resume, it's a pretty big open source project now

You decided to get rid of ban requests.

On topic: I don't play on Basil so I don't have much of a dog in this fight but a server full of shitters is better than an empty server. Put it back on the hub.

Think of the valids.

I have tg on my cv.

Largely because if i didn't I'd have this big six month employment gap I could only explain with depression and jerking off

There's this new thing we're rolling out called 'Internet Relay Chat', I really think it's going to revolutionize how things work. Assuming we get all the technical details ironed out, then we might even be able to have like, a bunch of admins in a channel specifically designed for people to come and talk to us about stuff and get help.

Ha please! The admins apparently would never agree to that.

All in all though I think basil should stay on the hub. It was nowhere near as shitty as people were saying and high pop rounds with 70 people on weren't at all hard to administrate. Especially since there are now generally plenty of admins on basil.

Don't be pussies.

Still do. Remember that I spent 4 years on this. Have half of it marked as developer and half as community manager.

Also remember that the vast majority of HR don't have a clue what the game is, what the community is like and will never look into it. The extent of what matters is what mattered was what I said in interviews. I've since developed enough other games so that giving special mention to ss13 is no longer important.

As much as some people would unironically want that, I'm actually doing quite well for myself, thanks. My studio's doing great!

I keep going on and seeing players: 12 and getting PTSD flashbacks to the Time of the Cliques

It reaches the 10-15 range later into the night in the US, I think its certainly worth it to be off the hub given that the midday pop is between 30 and 50 which for what Basil is supposed to be the perfect population.

As a US West coast player. Mornings 8-11 the count is 20-30, midday 12-5pm its 30-80, evening 40-55, night 20-35, and in the early am's 0-10. So basically from Europe afternoon to the next morning*

As a strictly Bagil unless its down for a long time, Bagil is very clear when its hub and when its not. The quality of the new players, and the rounds go down serverely. Griefing and metacomms, naming policy, are broken without even trying to hide it. Basic rules are ignored or not even read (im guilty of not even looking at the rules once until after 2 months of playing daily.) But when Bagil is off hub it does improve slowly. The cycle is effective and very much so. The population doesnt drop as drastically as everyone says it does. From my experience of playing, (8am to 3am every day for the past 2.5 months.), I think I have seen it enough to have a valid opinion here. Off the hub, Bagil is still lively.

I check regularly throughout the day and it has equal and frequently more pop than sybil, anyone who says being off the hub has deprived it of life is wrong.

To be completely honest you don't even need to read the rules. Like honestly, if you just be a normal healthy human being you won't get banned. Yes, that means talk first kill second.

It's not hard. The only thing that I guess could be found difficult to understand is sillicon laws, especially around law changes, but then just ask in OOC. This is why having rules being a huge fucking mess is stupid, you don't need 30 million subclauses about the smallest of fucking things, irregardless of the rampant inner autism brooding.

Yes, I know, I'm implying that the average person who plays this server nowadays has two fucking brain cells to their name. I know, rookie mistake, but still.

In a normal world this game is not difficult to not get banned.

Basil is on the hub again.
Also, due to a technical mishap by kor, turned test run, I think sybil is on the hub as well.
Welcome to hell boys.

Looks like Sybil is on the hub and basil is not. Now everyone who says basil should be on the hub but do not play there can get a taste of what they are subjecting us to

People reconnect to their favorite server through the client instead of go to the byond hub.

Which leaves me wondering what percentage of hubbies are only browsing the hub 'cause the server they normally go to kicked their asses to the curb
