it's seriously not that hard just price it under $2 unless it's a full-fledged expansion and let the kids cry that they can't pay a couple of cents for some post-apocalyptic t&a

If there was some sort of reliable QA or what have you for the mods I'd be pretty ok with that. But then again, I grew up in a generation that bought "expansions" to games.

The console is like magic to console bethshit players. Especially since Skyrim had whole quests that regularly bugged out unless you toggled something in the console.

Spiked knuckle to the eyeball was a favorite tactic of mine back in 1 & 2. Sending a deathclaw sliding across the map until it hit a wall and then sprayed out blood was satisfying on an existential level.

That was so satisfying. That fucking fall-straight-down-and-then-slide-a-mile-away animation was so buggy but so fucking satisfying.

I really like how Fallout 2 gave you better and better hand to hand attacks as your skill and level increased provided you had the appropriate stats. I wish the newer games still had that. I want to run around the post-apocalyptic wasteland kicking people's heads off and doing other Mortal Kombat shit.

Bloody mess isn't the same. It just makes people fall apart like crash dummies and some eyeballs and other random things pop out. Big fuckin' deal.

The old animations of people getting all chewed up and ripped to pieces or melting into a puddle were so much cooler.

I was usually a smallgunsfag in the old fallouts, so the previously posted torso hole animation was one i saw often. That and the "chewed apart by automatic fire" one for assault rifles.

The most fun i ever had on fallout 2 was a smallguns and charisma character. I hit super endgame i hung around san fran until i had 4 or 5 suits of power armor and a ton of end game guns. Me, cassidy, and vic all in power armor with gauss rifles, Sulik in power armor with a super sledge and myron with a laser gatling gun in a full frontal assault of the Enclave Navarro base. Shit was so cash, ended up clearing the place with a few close calls but no actual casualties. Gauss Rifle OP as fuck

Not as violent. People turn into glowing skeletons and then a pile of dust.

In Fallout 2 the skin would melt off the persons body into a big puddle leaving the skeleton standing there for a minute, which would then collapse.

Found it.

In Fallout 2 with melee and bloody mess you could punch holes in people or kick them so hard they just exploded into bloody splatter. It was fucking awesome. Haymaker'ing someone's head so hard it pops.

For New Vegas there's Essential Visual Enhancements, which at least does give the skeletonising skin-melting back.
Also makes explosions, blood splatters and fire much more AW FUCK YEAH.

Ex:
-Gore (Mostly skull)

-Explosions (NSFW for comic sans description)
NSFW:
-Plasma Crit (Hard to tell, but this is one where, after melting, the skeleton explodes and tosses bones everywhere)

CosmicScientist wrote:I hope they bring out another trailer or at least something which actually tells you what the game's about.

Besides the airship and some landmarks claiming it's Boston, it's Fallout 3: The Safe Remake until further notice.

Hell, it's not even trying to be subtle, it's just reproducing everything iconic about the previous games including Fallout 3's emergence from the vault but with less blinding light.

I just hope they don't touch the time when the bombs fell, at all beyond that trailer. The whispers and echoes of times long passed were fun to find on my own and let me dig as far as I wanted to, that trailer just shouts and yells all about it. Giving us a cinematic from when Mister President pressed the big red button to when little Timmy's mother curled around him to protect him in vain from the nuclear bomb isn't as much Fallout's style as finding two decaying skeletons on the side of the road, one adult, one child, both embraced outside of a rusted vault door, left to the mercy of time.

At least Fallout 3 and New Vegas subtly dealt with the backdrop of nuclear armageddon whilst keeping the here and now of the game the most important part. I can't say for the original Fallout games, I own them but even with fan made patches I couldn't get far through Fallout before finding bugs more game breaking than Bethesda have managed on launch and that coupled with its age made me stop, however it did feel like the here and now of get the vault some clean water and oh here's how life survived outside with a bunch of fun irradiated creatures was more important than the backdrop of "War, war never changes".

I only got to watch the first chunk of the gameplay footage at first. I internally sighed a bit at the voiced player, but everything else still looked solid enough that I could live with it. Then I started hearing a bit about some of the other stuff, mainly the settlement building because that was something I never expected it, and I started getting excited. Then I saw a video of the weapon customization, and then the power armor customization, and then actually using the power armor, and then holy shit jetpack.

I like a lot that the power armor is a quasi-vehicle and not just some invisible stat-boosting super suit.

I'm one of the players who has always, always hated the power armor for feeling really lame and not having a lot of presence.

I appreciate that the Bethesda showcase was just that - a showcase. Just showing off and talking about their upcoming games, nothing fancy. None of that stupid bullshit with unrelated sportsball players who are there because their contract obliged them, and the number of cringe-worthy jokes was limited.

I'm very much looking forward to this. And I share An0n3's sentiments about the power armour, it really looks like something special now rather than the slightly heavier armour with better stats and a special perk requirement that it was in Fallout 3/NV.

I am cautiously optimistic. I don't trust Bethesda a whole lot but everything they have shown regarding actual gameplay looks rad as fuck.

On the other hand, I can promise you that their new Bethesda Net or whatever will a platform for paid mods. Also, I dislike the pre-war focus. I've always felt like Fallout was about the post-post-apocalypse, the Great War was 200+ years ago after all. By making such personal connection between the PC and pre-war times I feel like they are focusing on ancient history rather than the post apocalypse.

But than again, all my doubts are just speculation. Everything we know for sure, I like. I like the power armor changes, I like the new armor layering system, I like the weapon system. As long as they don't fuck it up it should turn out pretty good.

I am questioning the practicality of a plasma sniper rifle, though, given that plasma projectiles tend to be slow a.f.
