Naming Policy

Bottom post of the previous page:

Rule 8. Pick a normal name. You must not use honorifics or nick names (E.g. Dr Greg House or Jack "Johnny" Johnson), and must be spelt fully with capitals and no shortenings (e.g. NOT J Hoffman or jaiden mallow). Exceptions to this are Eats-The-Lemons format of Lizard names, Clown, Mime, Silicon, Wizard and Nuke Op names. References are still allowed, but try to be original.
Can someone explain to me why Dr House or Luck is not allowed but a name like Blue-Eye-White-Dragon(no offence bro) or Sal A. Mander is? Or why everyone must have a last name? This adds nothing to the game. The RP argument is thrown out the window with names that lizards can pick. This policy needs to get scrapped since it is pointless and frankly unfair.

Discuss.

He was a guy who played with the name Burer. He did this for many years (maybe even before SoS started hosting). One day admins decided mononames were immersion ruining and his name of ~3-4 years suddenly was not okay anymore for whatever reason.
Except no admin ever actually enforced the rule on any oldies (Burer, Sly etc)
This policy is only like a year old or something. Get the info straight
Actually name policy has been bounced around a lot, this discussion and this year old policy is something that just pops up from time to time.

Burer was a two sided coin, either he was the hero the station deserved, infinitely more robust than most people could claim, Knew the ins and outs of every system, and could cuban pete with the best of them, then there was the other side, where it was like his bitchy cunty little brother would play, antagonize security, then claim revenge as he burned the department down and cackled madly while staring at the destruction he had wrought. and yeah, he migrated from gibbed 3 and 4 shortly after /tg/ got a server, as oldie as oldie gets.

And yeah, Oldies never got forced to follow the naming policy? I wouldn't say that's true, I got shit on for "The Gronk" my retarded all caps me am best superman bizzarro janitor, so I renamed him Theodore Gronkinson for about a week till it died down, and went right back to it. Naming policy has never had much endurance honestly, Mostly because deep down the people enforcing it don't care much except for the worser fringe cases like a 420gokusupersayain69lolololol or something.

Really the administration is overthinking things, the only rule needs to be:
1. Your name should resemble a name

So, Mai Emurshuns - fine
Luck - fine
Reginold Skullfucker XXI - fine
Richard the Lionheart - fine

360weedscopes - No
Barry FUCKSHITARSECUNT - NO
