This is beating a horse, but I really want to emphasize that I feel Catpeople simply do not fit in with SS13 in any capacity. Ultimantly they feel akin to someone inserting a lazy concept into the game that refuses to budge.

Just to further emphasize this, I want to point out how badly I feel Catpeople mesh with other non-Humans.

Side by side you can clearly tell which of the above Species does not "feel" like an Alien species, or at least a non-Human one.

They are nothing more than a creepy, weird, out of place, poorly implemented self-insert, they have nothing unique about them. They have no place in SS13.

Yeah, pretty much this. Like, even races like zombies and slimepeople at least have a distinctly inhuman skin coloration, and they're just humans that have been injected with weird bullshit.

have you ever noticed every suggestion and idea i made eventually comes to fruition by someone else claiming they have this new and innovative idea or they have this policy change that will make everyone happy and remove all issues

when you literally, two years ago, could have said "wow guys oxfords right it makes sense to remove a degenerate race from a good christian game, -proceeds to remove catgirl code"

Then why even have a poll in the first place? I mean, it's not like it would end if cats win, we're obviously still gonna get more polls or PRs in the future attempting to remove them. And the fun thing is, you wouldn't even need a poll to remove them: server and code are separate, so maintainers could just merge a removal PR right after the poll ends in a cat landslide victory and they would be in their full right to do so.

Ya know, having the "clean" tgstation base and the customised tgstation server edition might not be the worst idea in the universe.

I do wonder how much better server performance would be if you removed everything unnecessary to running and playing a round of ss13.

There is no reasonable argument for downstreams to be arguing about this. It is and has been a config option for a long while now, and if Hippie or any other downstream didn't want them it would be the work of 5 minutes to change their configs to disable them.
