Bloodborne, AKA "Rage Quit: The Game!"
OK so I got this mother fucker last night and I've gotten a hang of things. But WHAT THE FUCK THIS GAME IS HARD.
I'm purposefully going in blind, I've looked up a few things though (how to upgrade my weapon, level up, etc) but holy crap this game is hard. I keep reading that the first area is the hardest which, frankly, I'm fine with.
Anyone else playing this? I'd say in terms of actual combat mechanics I'm enjoying it more than Dark Souls 1 or 2 (I didn't play Demon Souls). Dodging actually works (you can't block) so that helps.

A true quote chainer would just quote again and pretend nothing happened.

Re: Bloodborne, AKA "Rage Quit: The Game!"
OK WELL IT'S A LOT OF FUN GUISE.
I just beat the Cleric Beast which is either the first or second boss of the game (I understand) depending on how things go. Something I'm finding interesting compared to previous Souls games is that some of the enemies it just makes sense to keep wacking away at them, as you can often kill them before you run out of stamina easily. However I think this has kinda lulled me into a false sense of security as now I'm starting to run into more unique enemies more often and I find myself getting into a chain of attacks when I really shouldn't be and dying/needing to retreat quite quickly.
I know it's still early but I'm going to say that not only am I enjoying this more than Da1 and Da2 but it's actually a much better game objectively. I do kinda miss the Souls atmosphere however, I get scared easily and this new setting (along with the amount of enemies that try to ambush you) is 2spooky4me. What's fun however is that the ambushes aren't cheesy, you can avoid them if you're paying attention, just a lot of careful walking.

From what I've heard though the Bloodborne PVP has major issues that'll keep it from having the same longevity as DS2 PvP, due to invader health penalties & no way to set up duels.

Re: Bloodborne, AKA "Rage Quit: The Game!"
From what I've seen there's only one way to fight someone and that's if they're opening themselves to be invaded. Though I'm sure there's more ways.
I like the way the co-op is set up more, to summon someone you just ring a bell near where you need help, keep playing and then eventually the server finds someone for you (and it works the other way around too). No running around trying to find marks, etc.
Anyways, I'm really digging this game. I'm pretty far along so far. Really digging the sword/greatsword weapon. In general the weapon selection is great, the trick option is a great feature. It's also nice how easy it is to upgrade your weapons, doesn't have the same issue of hoarding upgrade items because you don't know if you'll find a better weapon in an hour you wish you upgraded instead.

I don't like how they continually ease off on the punishments for being invaded and getting your shit slapped.
In Demon's Souls getting invaded was a fucking nightmare. There was a really limited amount of opportunities to resurrect in the game and getting killed in your corporeal form fucked over your world tendency, making the game even harder for you. Your obtain-all-the-stuff-perfect-playthrough could really easily get fucked over and shit on by other players. People killing you could actually ruin the game for you.
Like, it started here, and rather than ramping up the tension and insanity they've only toned it down and made it easier game-to-game. That impact people had on your world and your progress through the game stopped immediately in Dark Souls. Getting dunked just meant you lost some souls and a humanity. Like, they've cleaned up the systems and added more variety and shit to the PVP, but they removed the balls. Killing someone just makes them do something over again, vs. irreversibly fucking up their playthrough.

I still have yet to be invaded. I don't understand half of the mechanics still.
